"It wasn't easy, Cassandra. I had to work my butt off to get to the top. Challenge the greatest packs, get hurt along the way, face my fears, do everything it took to gain respect! We all start out small. But if we work hard enough, we will gain the respect we need." Porak said sternly.

"If I don't get killed along the way," Cassie muttered.

Porak glared at her.
"What's the point of me being a bodyguard if I don't protect you along your pathway to success? I'm going to make sure you don't die!" Porak exclaimed. -
Cassie blinked. "I kind of forgot you were my bodyguard," she said. "Lately you've been more like..." She was trying to find the words.

"Like?"

"Like a friend," she said quietly. She wasn't sure if she could describe Porak as a friend. She had honestly never had one before. But this seemed like the closest she'd ever get to having a friendship.

"A best friend?"

"My only friend," she said.

"I could help you make new friends." Porak suggested.

"They'd only do it because they're afraid of you," Cassie said.

"If they got to know you then they'd like you," Porak said.

"No one wants to get to know me, Porak," Cassie said. "I figured that out after sixteen years."

"That's because they haven't taken the time to know you." Porak said.

"Because they don't want to take the time to get to know me, why can't you understand that?" Cassie said.

"I'm your friend. I don't understand situations where nobody else wants to hang out with you." Porak said in an angry tone.
He wasn't angry at Cassandra. He was angry that he knew she was right.
