Porak followed close behind Cassie, still wondering why a watch meant so much to her.
-
It was stir fry for supper. She sat at the table where the pots and plates were all laid out neatly. She didn't feel like talking much.
-
Her adopted dad cleared his throat. "So, other than being beaten up, how was school Cassandra?" he asked.
-
Cassie glanced at Porak when he said that. "It was fine," she said as she squirted soy sauce onto her food.
-
Porak shifted around in his seat nervously. He knew that Cassie could throw him under the bus any second.
-
Cassie just ate silently for a few minutes.
Thalia looked at her daughter in slight concern. "Is something wrong?" she asked.
"No, I'm just thinking," Cassandra answered.
"What about?"
"... Nothing," she hesitated. -
Donald cocked his head and stared at Cassie with concern in his eyes. "C'mon sweetie. You can tell us." he said gently.
-
"I don't really want to," Cassie said. She glanced at Porak then said, "And even if I did, not now."
-
Donald nodded his head and went back to his food. Porak gulped and looked around the room nervously.
-
Cassandra quickly finished her food then cleared the table. When no one was looking she gave the smallest of smirks when she realized that she was making Porak nervous. She hadn't meant to, she hadn't even been thinking about turning Porak in. She started on the dishes.
"Well," Thalia said, and stood up, "I'm going to the bedroom to read a book."
And that left Donald and Porak in the room together. -
Donald narrowed his eyes at Porak. "You seem awfully nervous there sonny. Especially when I mentioned school." he said, glaring at Porak.
Porak played with his fingers nervously, not knowing what to say. "W-Well, I didn't study for a test and I thought I failed it." he lied.
Donald looked somewhat amused. "Ah, a lie." he said. -
Cassie opened up the dishwasher and started putting coffee mugs, containers, and various other dishes inside it.
-
Lets just say.
Donald and Porak had a very long talk. -
(I need to know, did they strike the deal where Donald doesn't turn him in if Porak pays him?)
Cassandra finished both the dishwasher dishes and the handwash dishes, then went back up to her room. -
(Yes)
Porak seemed very content with the deal he had made with Donald.
Despite his love for his adopted daughter, Donald also had a fancy for money.
