"You would not be interfering," Dorian stated. Suddenly there was a call that declared that the banquet was ready to be eaten. He sighed. "I have to go."
-
Libra blinked once and waved, then sat on a bench by herself.
-
Dorian was the talk of the banquet. People were giving him advice, among other things, and he was struggling to keep the lot of it in his head.
-
Libra caught whiffs of conversations every now and then, but the only word that she could make out was Dorian. Perhaps she was just dazed and not thinking right.
-
Dorian was polite through all of it, as every prince should be. He endured it all with poise.
Once it was done everyone then left to get ready for the ceremony. -
The ceremony, Libra thought, shuddering. Today, Dorian would meet his wife.
-
Dorian got changed into a set of clothes that had been made specifically for this occasion.
He walked into the grand-looking room. Nobility was lined up on either side of the long red mat in front of him. Every time he glanced at one of the girls they giggled, which was rather annoying.
He reached the other side of the room and knelt down in front of his father, the king, who placed the Matching Crown on his head.
(I don't know where Libra is) -
on a random bench qwq)
Libra sighed, staring at the Matching Crown on Dorian's head. This was going to become history, yet how she could prepare herself to let go of Dorian, she didn’t know. -
Dorian stood up and glowing footsteps appeared in front of him. He followed them all around the room. At one point they had him literally going in circles until Dorian told the Crown to quit it.
He didn't pay much attention to where he was going, the only important thing at the moment was the footsteps. They might have led him out of the room, might not have, but either way, after a while, they stopped.
Dorian looked up from the ground with wide eyes to see a servant girl sitting on a bench. Libra. -
"Dorian." Libra looked confused. "There must be something wrong with the Crown. I always thought it just picked a random person in the room, and I think… it’s flawed."
-
"For once you speak sense," the queen said. "This is not possible! She is a servant! This simply cannot be!"
The king, Dorian's father shook his head. "The Matching Crown has never been wrong. It brought you and me together."
Dorian looked between his parents and Libra. Was this really going to happen? Was he going to marry his best friend? -
Libra hung her head and whispered, "It’s the Matching Crown. You never know with the Matching Crown."
-
"Precisely," the king said. "It is official, Dorian shall marry er...what's your name?"
-
"Servant," Libra muttered under her breath. Loudly, she said, "I’m Libra."
-
"Dorian will marry Libra," the king said. "You two have one month to court each other, and then we will start planning the wedding."
