Pat whimpered and hid behind Sophia, as Christmas tiredly came into the room. "What's the matter?" he asked, looking around.

"It won't stop making noise," Sophia said, trying to hand him the box, but a cord prevented her from giving it to him. Suddenly the cord broke away from the wall and the noise stopped. "Did I...Did I break it?"

Christmas laughed. "No, you didn't break it. You just unplugged it."

"Oh," Sophia said with scrunched eyebrows. She picked up the end of the cord and saw two metal pieces sticking out of it.

Christmas took her hand in his own to guide her. "These little things go into those slits in the outlet, like that," he said, fitting it in.

When the little metal pieces were inserted into the wall Sophia was completely expecting the box to erupt in sound again, but it didn't. All that happened was that the numbers reappeared. "What is it?" she asked.

"What is what?" Christmas asked, getting the box back into position. -
(digital alarm clock)
"The box," Sophia said, pointing at it. -
Ohhh))
"It's the time," Christmas said, suddenly frowning at it. "Well, not exactly. I'll fix it." -
"The time?" Sophia asked. "Then why were there voices coming from it and awful beeping noises?"

"Because you must have pressed something odd," Christmas said. "You might have triggered an alarm."

(You know there's a button to turn on the radio, right? lol)
Sophia sat on the bed. "I'm sorry you have to deal with my lack of knowledge," she said. -
Oh my goodness rEaLlY?))
Christmas stopped working on the clock for a moment and turned to look at her. "Listen, Sophia. I am not upset with you and I'm happy you're here, okay? You're a blessing, not a curse." -
(XD You never knew that?!)
Sophia pressed her lips together. "At least I'm figuring things out," she said. "Like V-O-L minus makes the sound quieter and V-O-L plus makes the sound louder." -

"'Vol' would be short for volume, aka sound. You're learning a lot," Christmas said with a smile. "Now I'd better go see to breakfast, because I have a nasty feeling that it'll try to burn."
