Phil had been holding his breath and sighed when it fell. "You were so close." -

Phillip grabbed the ball and got as close to the goop as he felt comfortable doing. He shot.

"You did it!" Phil said happily. He looked around expectantly, hoping to see something noteworthy. -
Nope. Nothing. "That was all for nothing," Phillip said. "At least I made my first basket, I guess."

"Yeah," Phil said, disappointed. "I was really hoping that it would work."

Phillip looked around. "I don't think that trying things out with everything that's different is going to do anything."

"Probably," Phil said. "I don't know what else to do, though."

"Neither do I," Phillip admitted. "I wonder why Ruffian wasn't taken with me," he said.

"Maybe it was only supposed to bring only you here," Phil said. A Ruffian would be harder to hide than a Phillip."

"True," Phillip said, "but I don't know why the portal wanted me here in the first place."

"Maybe it wants you to do something," Phil suggested, racking his brains for any portal knowledge he might have.

"Pfft like what?" Phillip asked. "Real nice of a portal to send me into a parallel universe with no idea what I'm supposed to do."
