Finally, he heard it. Cold things. Snow. Hail. Storms of ice. Wait, that was it. Ice. Something in his mind, a faint memory of the real world he couldn't remember. He couldn't remember anything about the real world, he faintly remembered his mate. Blue fur. Blue eyes. Then he saw someone standing in front of him, with little paws and wide ice blue eyes. He gasped. She looked familiar, but that missing piece in his mind couldn't quite click...
-
It was a dream, of course it was a dream. But then why did it feel so cold? A shiver ran down Bluefly's back and Icekit stared at her parents.
"I want to play here," she said, her voice resentful and echoing oddly. "No one likes me. No one ever liked me." -
Suddenly, he saw Bluefly next to him, and an unfamiliar dark tom. He recognized his mate, and now his kit. Icekit. Was this a vision?
-
Bluefly shifted her gaze to the tom, unsheathing her claws. "Who are you? Get away from my kit!"
The tom's ears pinned back and he bared his teeth. "Ask the cat I once called my mate. Nightpelt...she'll tell you."
A tidal wave of dark red liquid washed over Bluefly and she woke up, gasping for air. -
She saw their mouths move, but couldn't hear a word. Something about the tom seemed oddly familiar.. but he woke up before he could fully grasp what it was.
-
Bluefly buried her face into Drakestorm's fur with a shudder. Her paws were clean and no longer covered with thick hot blood. "Drakestorm, what do I do? My rest is filled with nightmares."
-
He looked at her. "I saw someone who looked vaguely familiar... and you... and Icekit..." He murmured.
-
"You saw my dream," Bluefly murmured. "It's just a dream though, right? It can't be...a vision of some sort."
-
"That was your dream?" He asked, his eyes wide in alarm. "I couldn't hear anything, though... what was going on?"
-
"There was this tom, I think he was from the Dark Forest," Bluefly said softly. "Icekit wanted to stay with him and spend time with him. He said that she was his granddaughter and that Nightpelt was his mate."
She sighed. "Drakestorm, I think I saw your father." -
He froze. "That's where I knew him from." His mew was hushed. He got up to his feet. "We have to tell Nightpelt."
-
Bluefly got to her paws and padded after him. "Drakestorm, what is your history with your father?" she said in a soft hush.
Nightpelt was grooming Icekit, purring. -
He shuddered. "He hurt me for not being good enough, for not being strong enough, and even when I was, he hurt me for not being better than other cats, even those who had died." He mewed as they approached Nightpelt.
-
"Well he sounds terrible," she said defensively before addressing Nightpelt. "Nightpelt, I had a dream about your mate, Drakestorm's father. Can you tell us what you know?"
The older queen sighed, looking sad. "I knew this day would come. Settle down and I'll tell it to you." -
He sat down, wrapping a protective tail around his mate. "I'm ready."
