"If I remember right he's very choosy over who he speaks to," Harper said.
-
Kohana seemed to be pretty pleased about that, judging by the sheepish smile she made. "I will go get us some things and my ride. You have a metal horse, right?"
-
Harper nodded in affirmation, taking off the backpack.
-
Kohana was a very light, willowy sort of person. When she walked, you could hardly hear a sound. She vanished and returned with none other than a stag and three leather knapsacks.
Robo padded over to her and sat patiently as she put the knapsack on him, wagging his tail a little. -
(Just her casually riding a deer)
Harper raised his eyebrows a little at the stag, but said nothing, only pressed the button to turn his pack into a horse and got on. -
XD))
Pad tossed his head and cast an unimpressed glowing eye on the stag, who made an audible and prideful hmph. Kohana hopped onto her steed as Robo clambered onto Pad's back, waiting to be strapped in. -
"What's your name?" Harper asked as he strapped Robo in place.
-
"Kohana," the girl said with a smile, holding onto the stag's neck. "Ready to start on an adventure?"
-
Harper nodded, then urged Pad forward.
-
Kohana's stag pranced along unlike Pad, who thundered mightily down the path. The two began to be competitive and started racing each other.
"They seem to be rivalling for authority," Kohana commented. "That can happen when both like to be the leader. But they should get along sometime!" -
"Hopefully," Harper said. "We don't want any trouble along the way."
-
-
Robo jiggled unceremoniously in his straps as Pad and the stag showed off their abilities to each other. It was about noon and Kohana occasionally slipped a swift hand towards certain bushes and trees, rewarded with colorful fruits and berries, as well as a handful of revolting bugs. She grinned with delight and offered some to Harper.
-
Harper offered her a smile in return and took the fruit. "What's your life been like?" Harper asked.
-
Kohana crunched on a shiny looking beetle and stared at the tree leaves thoughtfully. "It's been pretty sad. Most of my family died when I was small," she said with a shrug, plucking a leaf under the pretense of studying it. "But you find other people, you find more family. And you start, slowly, to move on."
