Trixie quickly turned around and took off her hood, already at the stand "We'll do it. What are their names?" The man gave them a list of relatives he knew where imprisoned, and offered 4,000 gold pieces to start. The two obliged, and soon began to head for the orphanage. They trailed all the way into Alex's room after dropping the food off, and locked the door
"What the hell?" Alex asked, taking off his cloak and giving Trixie a look. "What do you mean what the hell?" she shot back, taking off her cloak as well "I saved you from the fate those elves suffer!" Frustrated, Alex hung up his cloak "You could have fled, and left me to deal with it. Now that you're involved, who knows what'll happen." Eyes growing wide, Trixie punched Alex in the arm and pushed him onto the bed "I was trying to help us, and the orphanage! You're so selfish!" -
Rose woke up with a start when the cage landed heavily, causing her to smack her head on the top. She glared sourly around her as she massaged her head. The cage door creaked open and the ogres began pulling the elves out.
"Please, they're innocen-" Rose began
An ogre tossed her to the ground and she sucked in her breath painfully. She felt her ribs. Yep. She'd definitely broken a few. -
"What do you think i've been trying to do? Why do you think i'm doing this at all?" Alex groaned, standing up and heading for a small door next to the entrance. Trixie watched as he opened it up and began to search through it, before punching him and leaving. Still going through his stuff, he groaned. Finally, a box stood on the top shelf. Alex grabbed it down, and set it on the desk. He opened it up, and lifted out a beautiful silk robe, one befitting a wizard. Placing a pouch within the pocket, Alex slipped it on and headed for Trixie's room
As he was about to open her door, it swung open and hit him in the face. He groaned, rubbing it as Trixie walked out with a black and red fit, including a black hood. She swung the door closed, and the two walked to the North side of town, where the merchants are. Looking around, they decided the best one was a merchant & blacksmith double shop -
Her family rushed around her, helping her up and tearfully asking if she was alright. She smiled, trying not to wince as her siblings hugged her. "I'm fine, really. But ow, take it easy kiddos!"
For a moment they forgot their troubles, smiling and laughing a little. The ogres shuffled them forward, but they felt a bit better than before. -
A bell jingled as the two entered the shop, looking around at the vast weapons and equipment displayed. The elf had given them 4,000 starting gold, as promised, which was enough for a few things. Alex wandered over to the staff's, awe struck as he started at the finely furnished & stylish staffs. A normal staff allows for simple spells, and elemental magic. However, some staffs hold a spot for a magic stone to amplify the user's magical abilities. There was a steel staff to the right that got his attention. He plucked it off the wall, chilled at first by the cool metal. Within seconds, the mage loved the hold of the steel staff.
Trixie travelled to the warrior's section, which housed armor and gear of all sorts. Grinning, the fairy flew up and grabbed some small shuriken hanging from the top. She also grabbed a chain, smoke bombs, and an axe. As she was looking through the weapons, a sword of pure iron and bursty met her eyes -
Rose walked at the front, her eyes flashing with determination. They would get out of this place, and they would be free. She would make sure it happened.
They were led into a building where they were shackled. They all huddled together, fearing that if they were apart, they'd lose each other. -
The two made it to the counter with their choices, and paid 3,406 gold to the merchant. As they put their new stuff on, the merchant warned them of the ogres' tradition "They love to publicly shame citizens in the most horrifying and brutal ways. It's called Draeknefla, and they're forcing anyone who ain't them to watch. Its supposed to be a secret from us, but i can tell you guys are on a mission. Be wary."
After profusely thanking the merchant, the two exited to a completely barren town. No one was there, or at least visible besides them. Alex grabbed Trixie and pulled her into an alley, quietly chanting. He drew a circle on the brick with his finger, and a soft whoosh confirmed the activation. As the two stepped through, they came out right inside the castle -
"Okay, listen up everyone," Rose said. "We have to have a way of finding each other if we get separated, okay?"
"How 'bout a whistle?" Rose's little brother, Charles asked. He made a three note tune.
"That works," Rose said. "Let's all memorise it. If we hear that, it means there's a fellow Rouge nearby." -
An ogre immediately shouted "INTRUDERS!" before ramming at the two. Alex grinned, and spun his staff around before shooting a blue ball of fire at the ogre. It sent the ogre flying, knocking him out upon contact. Two more ogres ran at them, but Trixie jumped at them, slashing her sword at the ogres. They held up their weapons to block, and one threw a punch underneath her slash that connected to her stomach. She groaned, and kicked her attacker before slashing at his hand, and kicking his weapon away. The other ogre punched her in the face, and grabbed her arm with her sword. Alex slammed his staff onto the ogre's arm, a loud crack shot through the air
-
Rose jumped. She rushed over to the nearest window to see what the commotion was. She gasped loudly. People were fighting the ogres!
"Guys, look!" she said giddily. -
The first ogre unhooked a small horn from his belt, and blew into it three quick times. A roar of shouts erupted, as long as the sound of 250 feet storming near. Trixie let out a cry of her own, battling and slashing as much as she could. Alex quickly drew a circle in the air with his staff, and tapped the ground with it. As he did that, two golems bust out of the walls, and began attacking the ogres
-
Rose wished she were able to help them. She pounded her fists against the windows. Her focus landed on her restraints. The shackles...
Using the chain, she managed to pull an ogre into a sort of headlock, choking them. Once they passed out, Rose ushered her family away. -
The two fought vigorously, and in a matter of minutes the dust had settled and all the ogres were on the floor. Trixie got stabbed in the side, and her red clothes grew darker. Alex rushed over to the elves as Trixie tended to her wound. Shuffling through some keys he grabbed off an ogre, Alex quickly tried to figure out which one was for the door. He found a kinda bent key, and he tried it. The door creaked open, and he rushed to the elves
-
Rose was worried for a moment that he would attack them, but all of her thoughts were swept aside when she saw Trixie injured. She thanked him and then ran over to Trixie hurriedly, her shackles tinkling as she went.
"Let me see the wound," Rose said to Trixie. -
"No, im fine. It's okay, my companion can take care of it." Trixie groaned, holding her wound. As Alex rushed over, he prepared a small fire string between his hands. When be got to Trixie, he held the line of fire to the cut, and healed the area while the fairy groaned
