"This means that someone came here after the attack, probably to clean up any evidence. We need to find the owner of this button," Oliver said. He put it carefully in a plastic bag and put it in his pocket.
He was just a bit too preoccupied to notice a pair of eyes watching them from behind a door. -
(i will be glad to see his blood.)
"Let's keep searching," Imogen said. -

Oliver nodded, and the person behind the door watched as they walked down the hall. He opened the door to the room of the murder scene; Mr. Marlen's bedroom. -
('he' being Oliver?)
-
(yep)
-
Imogen walked in. the place was halfway together, halfway in shambles.
-
A quiet creaking noise came from the verandah, and a continuous scratching noise. Oliver raised his eyebrows at Imogen.
"Do you want to check or should I?" -
Imogen shrugged. "You can," she said.
-
Oliver peered at the door and saw a rather harassed looking gray cat pawing at the door. He scooped the cat up and checked the collar. "That's funny. I didn't know the Marlens had a cat."
-
"Probably ran from home or something," Imogen said. "Unless it has this address on the tag."
-
"It does," Oliver said. "But that's strange. There's no other sign that a cat belongs here."
The cat wriggled out of Oliver's arms and strutted haughtily out of the room, his bottlebrush tail high in the air. Oliver stared at the cat before following him.
"I wonder what he's up to." -
"I've read books where a cat will lead you to where you want to go," Imogen said. "But it was only in books."
-
"Well that cat's walking with purpose," Oliver said. The cat shot a look over his shoulder before slipping out of the door and walking down the hall. The cat stopped at another door and scratched at it, mewling.
The door creaked open ever so slightly and revealed a small girl with long brown hair and brown eyes. When she saw them, she gasped and slammed the door shut. -
Imogen raised her eyebrows. She slowly opened the door. "Hello," she said to the girl.
-
The girl peered over a piece of furniture. "I'm not going."
