Ezra looked back at Marissa. “Things?” He said, almost as low as a whisper. What did she mean? Bears, wolves, wild cats, psychotics, murderers? Hopefully none of these, but Ezra gulped as he walked further into the darkness. He couldn’t help but feel afraid. The further the two of them walked into the forest, the larger it seemed to be. -
(So am I, but I guess I have to be physically acting the part.)
"Yes, things," Marissa said. "You don't expect nothing to live in here, do you?" She supposed she should stop, because Ezra was obviously getting worried. -

Ezra laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck. “I mean, of course...” His words were interrupted by a howl in the distant wood. Ezra stopped dead in his tracks, snapping a twig beneath his feet. He shifted and looked over to Marissa.

Marissa froze, and raised her eyebrows. She returned Ezra's look. "Probably time that we climb a tree and stay there for the rest of the night," she said. "That way we can continue in the morning, and have a better sense of where we're going."
