The tunnel crumbled to pieces, sending powerful vibrations through the ground. Finally, it was done. It was all over.

Gaynor didn't even want to try and stand up, she was exhausted, and she didn't know what would happen with her head if she did. She'd probably pass out. But she felt a sense of triumph. "We're done," Gaynor sighed.

James let out a breathy sort of laugh. "It is over."
Then he remembered that 02083 was gone and stopped laughing abruptly. -
"We have avenged her death also," Gaynor said, knowing what he was thinking about.

James nodded slowly, patting 84, who let out a soft whine and crawled into his lap.

Gaynor rested her head against the tree. "Gah . . . " she said, not leaning against the tree anymore, but she had moved so fast that she had gotten dizzy again.

He turned around. "Gaynor, are you alright?" he said, alarmed. He went over to her, helping her to sit. "You're... bleeding."

"One of the rocks hit my head," she said, rubbing her bloody hand across the grass.

"Here," he said, tying the banner around her head, bandaging it. "Is this better?"

"Well, it's the best I'm going to get, isn't it?" Gaynor said. "Until we get back home."

(You know, some people have a theory that in the future we're going to go back to something like the middle ages, but some people still have technology. This is kinda like that.)

"Well then, let us do that," he said, slinging 84 over his shoulder and helping Gaynor up. "Can you walk?" -
"I - I think so," she said. She tried to stand up. She got upright, but had to lean against the tree she was next to.

"Here, just lean against me. Do you wish me to carry you?" he said, as 84 let out a loud bark. "84, you are damaging my eardrums."

"Leaning's fine," Gaynor said, taking a few breaths.
