Tessa gave Alyth a bit of food so that she wouldn't be starving by the end of the day.
-
Alyth took the food as she went back into the pack in her tiny form.
-
Tess put on the pack, and walked into the city. Even if this city was safe enough, she'd like it to be farther away. It was too close to the city they had just come from. They had walked here in two days. So a car could do that easily, and then it would just take one person to plant doubt into an entire city.
She had been walking a bit, when an oldish woman grabbed her arm. She was probably in her 40s. But she was well dressed, so she didn't not have a place to stay. "Yes?" Tessa asked.
"What's in your pack?" she asked.
"Nothing much. Just supplies for a trip," Tessa answered.
"Are you sure you don't have a Monster in there?" the woman asked.
Shoot. She's a Monster Hunter. Tessa thought. "I think I would notice if I had a Monster in my pack." Tess retorted.
"Maybe I should check, just in case," the woman said.
"What is in my pack is none of your business. I don't have a monster in there."
"That's what anyone who was carrying a Monster would say."
"Oh, so so what would someone say if they weren't? Yeah, I have a Monster in my pack, now please don't kill me, I'm only lying. Really?"
"Just let me check. Otherwise I'll call the police. They don't like Monsters very much, nor anyone who is harboring them."
Tessa pressed the back of the pack, hoping that Alyth had heard and would be able to do something about it. She set the pack down, and unzipped it. The woman peered in. -
Alyth had teleported onto a roof of a building.
-
Tess felt relieved that Alyth wasn't in there, but she didn't show it. "See? I told you I was hiding nothing!" she said. "Now just go away!"
The woman had an angry look on her face, but there was nothing she could do. She stalked away angrily.
When the woman left, Tess gave a sigh of relief, and relaxed a bit. "Alyth!" she called. -
Alyth then had teleported back into the pack."I-I'm here.." She said softly.
-
"Good," Tess said. She zipped Alyth up in the pack, and put it back on her back, and started walking again. They couldn't stay here.
-
Alyth nervously curled up inside the pack as she closed her eyesockets.
-
Tess kept on walking a little faster than usual until she was out of the city. By then, it was late night. When they were safe distance from the city, she plopped her backpack on the ground, and lied down on the ground to fall asleep. She was exausted.
-
Alyth slowly climbed out from the pack as she went back to her normal size once more, seeming to be exhausted herself, soon curling up on Tessa's torso.
-
And . . they slept peacefully till morning.
-
As Alyth clung onto her form again, preventing Tessa from moving away.
-
Tessa woke up in the morning, and she had to go through the same process she had done the day before last to get up. it worked again.
-
Alyth whined softly as she soon woke up,yawning.
-
Tessa reached into the pack to get some food, when she felt a heavy man's hand fall on her shoulder. Her hand was still in the pack, so instead of food, she gripped her knife, and whipped around.
