The elevator began its descent downwards. As it slowly moved from the top floor to the bottom, Alyce began to think about who she was in charge of finding. Their faces popped up in her mind clear as day. She closed her eyes, focusing on the images that her head was reproducing. It would likely be easier to persuade the humans on the list... She opened her eyes when the elevator dinged. The doors opened to reveal the very overcrowded party room. She slowly stepped out, glancing around to see if she could find anyone on the list.
--
"That sure is a lot of people, huh?" Zea asked, squinting as he looked at the list. "..Damn, that's a lot of people indeed.. We're going to have to pick someone to go to, pal." Hex buzzed, focusing on one profile: Alex's.
Zea pursed his lips. "Really? We could talk to any of them, but you want to go to him? Mm.. Alright.." Adjusting his coat, Zea looked up at the crowd. "Lead the way, then, Hex."
--
Deiondre bit the inside of his cheek, staring at the girl for a moment. It was a simple question, really, but he couldn't figure out what he wanted to say. After an awkward pause, he finally said, "I'm Deiondre. I, uh... I was invited to this party. Not really sure why." He paused again, looking down at his feet and mustering more courage. "What about you? Who are you?"
--
Lorrie stopped in her tracks, a shocked expression crossing her face as she heard what the other girl had to say. Immediately, she went from feeling apologetic to furious. Fingering the bracelet on her wrist, she speed walked to catch up to her. "I apologized, lassie," Lorrie said angrily. "I'm pretty sure you are the one who should be concerned about who you've pissed off." -
Hayleigh furrowed her brow. It was obvious that Deiondre was somebody with very little experience in these types of social settings. Still, she found his effort impressive. "I'm Hayleigh. Hayleigh Li. My grandparents make me come to these, they think it's important for me to make a good impression."
-
Nora smiled and rolled her eyes. "Well at least somebody's unfazed by all this elite stuff. Why are you here, anyway?" She looked around the room at all the clearly wealthy people. "This doesn't seem to be one of your usual haunts." -
AsTR1D notices the android walking toward her. She walks to him, and is very excited to meet a new friend. The robotic appearance made her feel as if she didn't have to pretend to be human. "Salutations! I'm AsTR1D, but you can call me Astrid. What is your name?" She asks.
-
Astria noticed two other androids talking, but as much as she'd like to joint them, that wasn't her purpose here. Her purpose was to interact with people. She walked through the crowd, looking at the variety of different people. She never got the change to see this much diversity in a crowd before, so this would be very helpful to her research.
"I'm not concerned with anything right now besides finding my sister. I have no time for your petty squabbling." Danielle muttered as she arrived at the party, a frown on her face. "If she's in there... I'd be furious... It'd be dreadfully embarrassing for myself to be caught in such a party if she isn't there." Danielle muttered, looking around to find a cloak hanging from the fence. She smirked, grabbing the cloak and covering herself with it before entering the crowd. The quicker she found Jane, the better. -
X looked at AsTR1D and answered "My name is Securebot X-72. You may call me X for that is the nickname I have given myself since I have gained sentience." X now pondered how to carry on a conversation when all he could do was speak directly.
-
"All of this elite stuff is exactly why I'm here!" Milo replies to Nora, fist pounding the air as if he was making a grand speech. "You see, Nora, elites have a tendency to lower their gaurd. Everything is safe to them, they set their expensive high tech stuff down all the time. Heck, you know how much material I could find just by searching the trash in this place?" He said, laughing. "Earlier you informed me that we were here for me to practice verbal contact with people other than yourself," Ruby comments. "Should've known you would turn this event into a dumpster dive though," she muttered. "Two birds with one stone," Milo says, shrugging.
When Xena finishes stuffing her satchel with food, she scans the room for lower class like her. Her first objective to get food was done, now she needed to worry about seeing if someone could hack her ID chip. Nothing extreme, just change her name, her birthdate, etc. This whole expedition was strictly for business. Xena tried so hard to keep that thought in mind, but it was difficult when someone would whisper about every five seconds. "Judgy, judgy," she mutters, finally shying away from their glances and opting to escape to the girls restroom. -
Alyce was slightly dismayed to discover that she couldn't find anyone. Perhaps they simply hadn't arrived. She pushed through the crowd, muttering apologies here and there as she made her way to the center of the room. Her dismay turned into excitement when she caught sight of one of the girls on her list: Xena Caldwell. Locking her eyes on the prize, she made her way towards the young cyborg, carefully weaving through crowds of people.
--
Hex floated up into the air and began to slowly make his way through the room. Zea followed behind, glancing around at his surroundings to see if he could catch any of the other partygoers that he needed to speak to. He caught sight of some of them as they passed by. Hex stopped before a table. Alex was seated in a chair alone.
"Hello," Zea greeted, smiling. "Are you Alex Dregoon?"
--
Deiondre forced himself to relax and gave Hayleigh a small, shy smile. "Ah, I see... Well, I'm sure that you're going to do a wonderful job of that." He stood there for a moment, realizing that what he said was likely difficult to respond to. "I, uh.. I'm really sorry if I bothered you. I just... I don't actually know anyone, you know? You looked like you'd be.. Friendly."
--
Lorrie glared daggers at Danielle. She felt as if she should say- or rather, do- more, but they had somehow arrived at the party entrance. As Danielle disappeared inside, Lorrie stood at the doors, gawking up at the large building. She had never dreamed of entering such a grand place; the Anomaly was, after all, often reserved by the Elite. She swallowed, dropping her gaze back to the doors. This would be a good place to learn information and possibly gain some new toys.. -
Hayleigh smiled. "I like you. You're not as stuffy as most of the people here are. You're more... Genuine." She looked around the room, hoping to spot her grandparents. "I can't seem to find my grandparents, do you mind if I stay and talk with you for a while?"
-
Nora chuckled. "I know, right? I'm dying to know what secret tech the Elites are hiding." She glanced around, then leaned in closer. "You know, I'm actually here on a job. I was contacted by an anonymous client about possibly helping them get some illegal cybernetics. They've gotta be an Elite if they're only willing to meet here." -
AsTR1D looked at X. "May I ask you a very weird question?" She thought maybe X would understand. Sentience. The ability to perceive or feel things.
-
(It looks like Tasha has been MIA for a few days. We can go ahead and skip her until she returns.)
-
X answered "You may ask any question you desire, though I may have trouble answering it if it is about something I am not familiar with." X thought, in his computer brain, possible answers to her weird question.
Alex looked at the small drone and woman come to his table he answered "Yes, I am. Who wants to know?" -
"An elite client?! You go girl!" Milo says encouragingly, holding up a hand for a high five. "That might not necessarily be true," Ruby cuts in, as logical as ever even though she could feel emotions. "There are many lowlives attending this get together as well," Ruby says. Milo looks around. "You're actually right, Rue.."
Xena reaches the girls bathroom, but before she could turn the knob and enter, she tensed up, sensing someone watching her. When she turns around she's surprised to find a girl with short red hair, pushing through the crowd and heading for her with a purpose. Xena's hand instinctively reaches towards one of her guns, but she doesn't want to pull it out and cause a scene quite yet. She wondered if the girl was someone her family sent, then wondered if they would actually go that far. -
Alyce thought that she had been discreet as she followed the other girl. However, it became apparent that she had not been as clever as she believed herself to be. As she broke through the crowd before the girl's bathroom, she saw that Xena was watching her, a hand hovering over her clothes. The android could tell that she was on the defensive side. Alyce held up her hands, giving her a half-hearted smile. "Hi," she said, unsure of how to greet her. "Are you Xena Caldwell?"
--
Zea pulled another chair over, sitting down. Hex sat itself down on his shoulder, a few whirring sounds coming from its body. "My name is Zea Tolman," he said, holding out his hand for a handshake. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."
--
Deiondre's smile became genuine as Hayleigh smiled back. It made him feel just a little more confident in his speaking skills. "I don't mind at all. It would be nice to have company while going through, ah..." He paused, looking through the glass doors at the large amount of partygoers. He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck and gesturing towards the inside. "That mess."
Lorrie was about to go in when she saw Deiondre standing outside beside a girl. A playful smirk crossed the bounty hunter's face. She walked over to him, throwing her arm around him and staring intently at the young woman he was speaking to. "Wow, Dre, who's the hot lassie ya got with ya?" She said loudly, looking at him.
Deiondre tensed up, quickly moving away from Lorrie and brushing himself off. "This is Hayleigh," he said, swallowing. He was nervous that Lorrie would scare off his newfound friend. -
Hayleigh, having finally felt comfortable, tensed up at the new interaction. This new girl looked rough, and she wondered if it would be worth it to wait for her to leave or to abandon her new friend at the door. "It's nice to meet you." She turned back to Deiondre. "Well then. Shall we?"
-
Nora smirked and pushed Milo's hand down. "She's right, y'know. It could just be someone who's looking to be descrete..." She looked around then back at the two. "Wanna help me figure it out?" -
"This is going to sound weird...but there is a possibility that I am breaking. Ever since the crime rate grew, I started working harder for the twins I protect. And there is a possibility that what that experience was is called...concern? The problem is, I am an android. And concern is a feeling. Am I broken?" AsTR1D had not told anyone about this.
