I Summon Thee

Virgil glances back at Abel's hand, amused that the clueless human was touching him so easily. He wondered if the boy would be disgusted knowing that he had touched a demon. "Your brother has been very kind to me," he said sweetly. "I feel so honored to be in the home of a family such as yours.."
He paused, wondering if he should make up his life story now, or wait for Cain to assist him. After a moment, he decided that it would be more fun to jump into a backstory now rather than wait. "I've been wanting to find the time to worship and praise the lord, but my home life made it impossible.. Cain showed me that God does listen, bless his heart! I hope I won't be too much of a bother for you all.." -
"Of course you won't be a bother," Abel said, "It's just all so sudden, we'll have to ask our parents what they think." He seemed to be deep in thought.
As they went downstairs, Abel took a right, where the living room was. "Mom?" He called out. His mother walked to the living room, she was a dirty blonde with striking gray eyes wearing a blue dress and an apron. Her hair was put up in a way that was sickeningly perfect. "Finally, boys, your food's gonna get cold and your father already-" of course, she stopped when she saw Virgil.
"This is Virgil, Cain said that he needed to stay with a family like ours for a while, Cain wants to show him the way of the Lord," Abel explained, making sure to tell that this was Cain's idea, not his. The woman had to think for a second, but then said, ".. Hmmm.. well I suppose that's fine with me. Poor child, you must be starving. Abel, show him around while I fix him a plate."
Abel, for some reason, seemed slightly deflated. He nodded. -
Virgil studied the mother from head to toe. She was absolutely stunning, in every sense of the word. There wasn't a single imperfection on her body from what the demon could see. As she finally caught on that Virgil wasn't Cain, he gave her a charming smile, trying to put on the facade that he was an innocent boy in need of assistance.
"I apologize for dropping in unannounced, Mrs. Willson. Normally, I am not this rude, but.. Desperate times, desperate measures, you know?" He paused, putting his hands behind his back and giving her a sheepish look. "I am rather hungry... Are you sure it isn't a problem?" He noticed Abel's mood from the corner of his eye. -
"Oh, and he's an absolute sweetheart!" Cain's mother said, holding her heart. "Wait until Wilbur meets you, my husband's a priest, you know! He can help cleanse you of any misgivings while you stay," She said, "It's absolutely no problem, the more the merrier!"
As she turned away to go and fix the plate, Abel looked at Virgil. "I'm not buying this whole thing, so you can stop pretending," Abel said. "How's Cain gonna wake up with some stranger? Who are you? What are you to Cain?" Abel spoke somewhat lowly since his mom was in the next room. -
Virgil blinked, turning to face Abel completely. "I can't believe that you don't trust me, Abel." He extended his arms, giving him the same smile that he had given to their mother. "I came by last night, however.. Cain was too nervous about how his parents would react so late into the day, so I agreed to come by this morning. We've put this off for a while.. After all, I he informed me that you all would have to take time to get used to me.." He paused, debating how he wanted to continue his story. If Abel kept asking questions that Virgil couldn't answer, there would be problems for Cain in the near future. The smile left his face, and he became more serious as he picked up the story.
"My name is Virgil. I come from a family with.. An unfortunately dark past. They kept me from going to church and finding myself, so I left. I attended one of the worship ceremonies at church, and I ran into your brother there. We had a quick discussion, and he suggested that I should come here and see if I could stay with your family."
Another pause; this time, it was to put on an upset expression. Abel could see the pain in his eyes, and the way that his body deflated as he reflected on his sob story. It appeared to be genuine. "I was nervous. I've never been around a family of Christ, and I don't want to be a hassle to any of you. I can assure you that I have no ill intentions towards any of you.. I just want to find myself and be allowed to worship the Lord in all of his glory." -
Abel actually did believe Virgil's story after hearing him out. Abel wasn't a very good actor, though, and his reaction was, yet again, strange. He seemed agitated that Virgil and Cain's story checked out, though he tried to hide it with a fake apologetic smile.
"I'm sorry for all of the hardcore questioning then, man. I'm just looking out for my brother, you know," Abel was lying through his teeth.
At that moment, Cain came down the stairs. "That was quick," Abel remarked. "Yeah, just wanted to hurry so I could introduce Virgil to mom," Cain said. His hair was still wet, and he was cleaner but more windswept than ever. -
Virgil immediately picked up on the fact that Abel was not comfortable with Virgil. He also noticed that he was lying; he was not sorry for the interrogation. However, he played it off with a small smile. It was best for him not to argue with the other brother. Perhaps they'd have fun once the demon obtained his powers.
As Cain came downstairs, he turned to look at him. For a moment, Virgil's heart skipped a few beats. Seeing the other male with wet hair, clinging to his skin and still dripping a few water droplets... Virgil's smile faded, and he became lost in thought as he Cain approached them. "Introduce me? Why, I've already practically met her.." -
"A little late for introductions," Cain's mom said, entering the room again. When she entered, Cain's posture went stiffer, more respectable. He either really feared his mother or really respected her, probably both.
"Everyone's food is on the table, y'all crazy kids come sit so we can finally eat breakfast," She led them to the dining room. The room was simple but clean, as was most of the house. The table was hezagonal, with enough chairs to seat 6 people.
Cain pulled out his mother's chair for her before taking a seat himself, next to her. Cain was about to offer Virgil the other seat next to him, but Abel quickly sat down in it.
"Everyone, hold hands, we have to say our prayers," She stated, not noticing Abel's actions.
Cain frowned, then asked "Mother, would you mind sitting a seat over? I want Virgil to sit next to me, he's not comfortable with anyone else quite yet."
"Oh, of course," Cain's mother said, changing seats. Abel gave Cain a glare, but Cain smiled pleasantly at his mom. -
(Abel, are you jealous that Cain will eventually get some demonic dick? 🤔)
Virgil followed their mother into the kitchen, folding his hands behind his back and falling eerily silent. He could tell by Cain's ridged body movements that this woman was not one to mess with.
When Abel sat down in the seat that Cain had apparently intended for him, a small smirk took over his face. He could feel the negative energy flowing off of the other male. Oh, this one was going to be so much fun to trick, he thought to himself.
When their mother moved spots, Virgil gave her a small smile, moving to sit in the chair. He quickly moved to hold his hands out in order to pray with them. "Thank you, Mrs. Willson," he said, dipping his head in gratitude. "I apologize for the hassle." -
(Nah, Abel's mad for another reason- to be revealed later mwhahaha)
"No need to apologize, dearie! Gosh, you're so well-mannered!.. Abel, take notes," Ms. Willson said, which earned a small snort from Cain and a shocked expression on Abel. "Mom-" Abel started. "-Time for prayer," Cain's mother finished.
Cain held his brother's hand easily, though he hesitated slightly when he placed his in Virgil's hand. He found it wasn't so bad, even calming, to have the hand of a demon, powerful and sturdy.
Cain's mother took hold of Virgil's hand easily, not aware that she was touching the most unholy of creatures. "Lord, we gather here today to ask you to bless this food and our new guest as he sits with us to learn the holy and righteous way. We ask that you grant us safety, happiness, and holy passage as we go about the rest of the day. In Jesus name, Amen." She finished the prayer, and amen echoed through the table.
When everyone else let go of hands, Cain found his still in Virgil's, but he pulled away quickly when he realized the fact. -
(Are you interested in picking this up again? I'm in summer now, and I would love to commit myself to this.)

(Hell yes!!! -Pun intended ;)- reply whenever you're ready)

Virgil watched Abel's expressions. While he had a calm and rather emotionless expression on his face, he couldn't help but feel the urge to smirk. Abel would be a rather fun boy to play with, he thought to himself. There was no way that he would pass up the opportunity to see more of the human boy's silly expressions.
As Cain and Cain's mother took hold of his hands, he moved around in his seat, relaxing his arms and dipping his head forward. He noted that Cain was unsure about holding Virgil's hand. This time, he couldn't stop a smile from crossing his lips. Cain's sheer timidness was rather adorable; the demon was already too fond of his new master.
When the prayer was over, Virgil slowly lifted his head and turned his attention to Cain. He watched as he pulled his hand away, fully aware that the boy had left his hand there longer than he needed to.
"Are you alright, Cain?" Virgil asked smoothly, dropping his hands into his lap. "You look a bit.. Red." -
(I don't think we stated this, but I'm assuming it's a Saturday? Otherwise, Abel would at school, and Sundays are of course for church)
"Wha? Oh, uh of course. I'm fine. It's just.." Cain racked his brain for an excuse, but couldn't find a good enough one on short notice. He decided to leave it at that, and stuffed his mouth with a forkful of eggs.
Was his face really that noticeably red, or was Virgil just messing with him, trying to get a reaction out of him? Cain couldn't be sure, Virgil has proven to be awfully good at coming up with lies.
Abel and his mother went into a conversation about school and how his grades were doing, so Cain kinda zoned out to finish his food. He tried to avoid making eye contact with the demon, awfully close to him. Cain was kind of regretting having Virgil sit next to him now, but anything was better than him having to sit by Abel. -
(I totally forgot about school. Saturday sounds like a good day, yes.. xD)
The demon lifted a hand to his face to hide his smirk. He turned his attention to the plate in front of him, aware that he needed to act as a normal human would. While he didn't necessarily need to eat human food, he could definitely feel the pains of hunger growing in his stomach.
Virgil carefully picked up his fork, aggressively stabbing it into his eggs. He smiled in satisfaction when he heard the metal clink against the plate. Oh, how the sound reminded him of far better scenery; the rattling of chains of prisoners, the sound of nails scraping against walls, the pitiful cries of the souls that were forever trapped in--
He caught himself, quickly realizing that he hadn't actually brought the food to his lips in quite some time. Sighing, he shoved the food into his mouth, glumly chewing. The demon certainly needed to keep his act up, or the family would catch on sooner rather than later.
Virgil glanced at Cain out of the corner of his eye. He could tell by his posture that he was mildly uncomfortable with the demon's presence. He noted that they were a bit too close, actually. While the rest of the family had space between their chairs, Virgil and Cain's seats were scooted conveniently too close. He wondered if he should take the opportunity to tease the boy just a little more..
