"Not much, reading, keeping to myself." I spoke softly. I pulled my legs up and crossed them kiddie style in the chair. My eyes wandered around the room once again.
-
"What do you like to read?" I asked, deciding that I could get books from my library at home to give to this girl. "I like fiction novels myself. Mostly mystery or fantasy. I also like The Hunger Games. Most of all, I like comic books." I told her.
-
"Yeah, I usually read fiction. Fantasy as well, distopians are okay." I said with a small smile, "I'm not particularly fond of mystery novels I find them somewhat predictable, then again most novels can be unless they're written well." I smiled and a small chuckle escaped my lips, "Comic books are okay."
-
"Yeah. I don't like them for the suspense though. I read them because there's something soothing about reading, watching, or listening to a group of smart people work. Like when you see a video of one of those long, complicated machines with no real purpose, but there is something calming, almost hypnotic about it. So you watch, wondering what happens at the end." I explained, a passionate look in my eyes.
-
-
I laughed slightly and with a small nod, "I see, makes sense." I shifted my hands in my lap and started playing with my fingers, "I can see your passion on the subject."
-
I nodded and smiled. "What are you passionate about?" I asked curiously, enjoying talking to this girl.
-
I tilted my head thinking about it. What was I passionate about? I couldn't quite put my finger on anything too specific, "Nothing really." I spoke quietly, blushing because of my embarrassment, "I like taking photo's though, photography. I'm not very good though."
-
"Can I see some of your photos?" I asked with a smile.
-
I nodded slightly, "Sure." I said quietly. I shifted and grabbed my phone out of my back pocket, I unlocked it and opened Instagram, "I have better ones on my actual camera but these aren't horrible." I said quietly and got up and walked to the bed. I held out the phone for her to grab and leaned against the bed, half sitting on it.
-
I felt my cheeks warm a bit as she sat beside me. "These are excellent!" She cheered with a smile. "Certainly very beautiful." She added, studying the girl.
-
I blushed when she complimented the photos, "They're not that good." she whispered and played with her fingers nervously.
-
"You enjoy taking these pictures." I told the girl. "That is what makes them beautiful. You put your heart, not your brain, into taking these pictures and that's what makes them special. Anyone can be taught to do something flawlessly. However it's only half as beautiful compared to when someone cares to do that thing." I told her, smiling as I studied her.
-
I laughed lightly and looked down at my hands, "I don't uh... Thanks." I said, my cheeks burning. I looked up at her and saw her studying me, I bit my lip and looked back down at my hands, "You're too kind." I said quietly.
-
For a split moment, I felt a sting of guilt. This girl had no clue who I was or what I have done. No one did. And it was going to stay that way. However I felt a little sorry for her being so naive.
