"Yes but only after we've accomplished what we need to. If word about this time machine leaks out, then this would be the first ever working time machine! The government would swarm all over this place and probably take it away. I mean, we're geniuses, but they'll be wanting their own professionals working on this. And once they retake it away, we'll lose our chance to use it ourselves. No, no one can know about this until we're done." Caroline said firmly.
-
Claire nodded. "We're going to have to fake another experiment to explain the power outages. We only have and hour to work on the blue prints." She sighed, pausing the movie.
-
Caroline shoved the rest of her pizza in her mouth. After swallowing, she said, "Alright, let's get to work."
-
An idea suddenly popped into Claires head. We could make a machine with bio tech that works similar to Photosynthesis. Only instead of turning CO2 into air, it could turn CO2 into Electricity. Claire told Caroline.
-
"Good idea." Caroline said. She led the way into their laboratory, shutting the door behind them so they wouldn't be disturbed. The laboratory itself was full of equipment scattered everywhere. Vials full of various liquids were stacked around the room and somewhere in all their junk was a pressurized canister full of CO2. "Ah, found it," Caroline said, pulling out a metal container from the ground. "Lets do a test run."
-
We havent built it yet. Claire replied, getting another call. She sighed when she saw it was her father and hanged up. Then she put her phone away and got to work on the blue prints.
-
-
"I mean that we should try turning CO2 into electricity, like you said," Caroline said, "We should have the equipment here. I say we do a test run and make sure that we really can use this as a power source." She started to pick up random pieces of equipment around the room, then stopped, a frown on her face, "Who called?"
-
No one. Claire replied as she helped pick up pieces.
-
Caroline shrugged, "So do you want to help me with this?"
-
-
No. Sunlight is the power source. We are trying to convert CO2. Then again... Photosynthesis turns CO2 into Oxygen. Maybe we can make a machine that does that, then adds hydrogen in order to make water. Cassie suggested.
-
"Ah but we don't really need water. There's already plenty of that on this earth!" laughed Caroline, "So anyway, I think we've pretty figured out the formula for the time machine to work...but the machine itself is somewhat...well, lacking. In complete scraps of metal everywhere." Caroline kicked at a nearby piece of the time machine lying on the floor. "We're scientists not mechanics." She sighed.
-
Clearly you dont realize how many countries are in droughts. Or how many deserts are uninhabitable because of their lack of water. Claire sighed. Do you have a better idea to get the neighbors off our backs? She asked.
-
"Oh, Claire, please... don't start a fight. I know we've been doing this for forever. And it's taken us a while to get to where we are. And the situation with mom is not improving!" Caroline nearly shouted out the end of her sentence. The stress was slowly mounting and Caroline found it easier to get pulled into an argument with Claire. "I just meant that we have enough water where we are. Those other countries going through drought aren't exactly building a time machine. No, we don't need water, but we do need to get this machine ready. Perhaps you could work on this while I handle the neighbors? I'll go over and talk to them, make up some excuses."
