"No one. It was a prank caller." Claire told her, putting her phone away as the doorbell rang. "Probably the pizza. And make sure Cracker Jack stays out of the lab." Claire told Caroline as she walked to the front door. Winter was already there so Claire moved her out of the way before answering.

Caroline frowned behind Claire's back. Was her sister hiding something? As Claire talked to the pizza delivery guy, Caroline headed off towards the kitchen, bringing Crackerjack out with her. Then she busier herself with making a quick salad.

Clair took the pizzas and put them on paper plates. She handed Caroline some pizza. Winter sat on Claire's lap as she turned on the tv.

Caroline joined her sister, starting to eat quickly. "Did Mom say what time she'll be home?"

"She'll be home in an hour." Claire replied. "She says she's bringing home a surprise." Claire added.

Oh dear, thought Caroline. Their mother was...well, definitely odd. And this surprise was undoubtedly unpleasant. "Well then--" Caroline was suddenly interrupted as someone knocked on the front door.

"Who could that be?" Claire wondered in confusion, pausing the tv and heading to the door. She looked out the window to see who it was. She didn't want to let in a stranger.

"Maybe Mom's home early?" Caroline suggested, walking over to her sister. It was hard to see from the window. Shadows obscured their strange visitor.

"No. She would have called." Claire replied, getting a baseball bat before answering the door. "Yes?" She asked.

The stranger stepped slowly into the light, revealing....their neighbor, a grouchy old man. Someone who was far too nosy and suspicious in Caroline's mind.

"Can we help you sir?" Claire asked, putting the bat away.

"I been hearing some strange sounds from y'all's house. And when I do, the power flickers." He waved his fingers around in the air. "Reckon something's going on here." Then he started to push his way into the house, trying to push past Caroline. Caroline had a brief moment of fear. He must be noticing the effects of their time machine.

"Uh... You aren't allowed to enter our house without our moms permission. That's against the law!" Claire told him, blocking his way. "Mom will be back in an hour. Can't you wait till then?" She asked.

The man frowned at Claire while trying to look past Caroline. The he grumbled something and backed away. "I'll be back." And with that said he left. Caroline turned worriedly to her sister, "People are starting to get suspicious. What if they find out about the time machine?"

Claire frowned and closed the door. "Would that be a problem? If the time machine is successful, we could win a Nobel prize. Besides. It shouldn't have done any damage because we haven't even used it yet. Did you borrow electricity from the powerplant again?" Claire asked as she restarted the movie.
