''Understood.'' The maiden hummed. Continuing her momentum of reading her book whilst memorizing the spells she deemed useable for their current war. Her mind heavy with various spells she recalled each one with a slow tone inside her thoughts.
The first spell I tried was of one with branches and leaves must preferable for a Hedge Witch to perform. It was meant to bring life and use it to however you please. Another spell that I seemed fond of was to create a bird-like cage for enemies and possibly use them to gather information through torture methods or threats.
She drummed her fingers against the wooden surface of the table. Her mind continued to dig further deeper into the depths of her mind as Hendrina eyed the door with impatient. The princess imagined a scene of rebels bursting through the door threatening her life and Zack's. Thoughts of murder and blood filled her vision as she rubbed her temple. Just the thought of such blood soaking into the sheets of yellow papers within books, the book covers coated in the red substance annoyed her longing inner peace. Her gaze drifted to her hands that were abusing the poor table with a soothing rhythm. Fingertips grazed the maroon-colored nails as it helped ease her mind. -
Zack frowned in concern"Are you Okay, Hendrina?"
-
Hendrina glanced over at the prince as she limited her words to say. ''I don't believe I am. My apologies for worrying but, war has always been stressful throughout the centuries.'' Hendrina whispered. Continuously rubbing her fingernails with force, she swallowed the lump in her throat.
-
Zack frowned and sighed, running a hand through his hair."I understand..."He said as he closed his eyes.
-
''Enough about my worries, what about you?'' She questioned. Her vague words caught her by surprise as Hendrina placed more force down upon her fingernail feeling the smooth nail polish against her skin. ''What about you, Zack? Are you alright, you seem quite upset?'' Hendrina hummed. Her tone was laced with concern and interest as she kept her gaze upon Zack.
-
"Well..."Zack started off as he opened his eyes to glance at Hendrina"I am a bit tense about the war. What if I'm not good enough to be a leader. What if many of my people get slaughtered."He said and started gripping his hair.
-
''I have no guarantees for the future, Zack. I do apologize for my mother enforcing the Elves to partake in a civil war. I'm sure you're a great leader and if all else fails maybe you weren't meant to lead but, to be a bystander. You don't always have to play the starring role, Zack.'' Hendrina hummed her words of encouragement. If she were to listen to the words she spoke of and follow her own advice Hendrina was sure she wouldn't be worrying. ''Instead of reading about the past,'' Hendrina said whilst closing the book of various legacies. ''Shall we go to the garden? I want to show you the magic Witches can use. Just to prepare you the damage we can cause.'' Hendrina hummed, standing. She held out her hand to Zack with a small smile of hope.
-
Zack nodded his head in understanding before he took her hand and stood up.
-
''I hope you don't mind us holding hands, it seems we're quite comfortable with it. I just want to make it clear that I don't want to make you uncomfortable.'' Hendrina hummed. Lowering her head in shame for not asking if he wished to hold onto the maiden's cold hand. Hendrina bit down at her bottom lip rethinking her decision of holding onto his hand. Her fingers brushed against his warm hand whilst she loosened her grip.
-
Zack smiled softly and lightly gripped her hand"I don't mind at all.Its quite soothing actually."
-
''Well,'' Hendrina began feeling her hand trace the back of his hand. Her fingertips become familiar with the warmth and the smooth surface of her skin she hummed with delight. ''I'm glad it soothes you.'' Hendrina finished. She allowed silence to settle in the air as her lips curved into a smile. Moments like this was what but her mind at ease.
-
Zack hummed as his smile widen a bit"It seems that this also puts you at ease."He said.He had become quite comfortable with holding her cold hand in his own warm ones and to him, this felt perfect.
-
''Of course, I do!'' Hendrina laughed. ''It just us, holding hands, it's all rather soothing.'' The maiden mused. Her mind still containing thoughts of the unforeseen future she kept her eyes glued onto the prince. ''Couples hold hands to express emotions, correct?'' Hendrina questioned to no one in particular. ''Married couples do so too if I'm correct. So, why not get married?'' Hendrina began. She twirled her hair in thought, chewing on her tongue. ''I mean I'm comfortable with you and I enjoy your company. Is there anything else in a relationship you need?'' She questioned, mumbling her words in the process.
-
Zack smiled and hummed as his eyes met Hendrina's and soon went into a trace. He then unconsciously blushed at the thought of him and Hendrina getting married.
-
Hendrina could feel eyes upon her frame as a turned her yea into the direction of those peering eyes. Her ice blue eye settled on the man beside her. Locking her gaze with his she noticed Zack's tinge cheeks. Laughter streamed from her lips without a second thought of hesitation. ''My apologies, Zack but, you're cheeks are pink. We haven't had a deep discussion talking about marriage. I mean its nice talking about something other than war.'' The maiden mused. Clattering footsteps filled her thoughts as she listened to the rhythm of he heels clicking.
