Savanna nodded. "Someone heard the gunshot. They called 911 and the guy was arrested. I homeschooled myself from that day, taught myself not to talk. Then I let mom send me to High School..." She sighed. "I killed her... He told me if I said another word she would die... Every time I speak now... It just hurts her..." Savanna stared at her hands as if blood was all over them.

James looked down. It was hard for him to digest. He had been believing all pretty looking girls are just plain mean. Now he was sitting near a girl who has sacrificed her talking because of a mistake. "You didn't kill her... Tell me, did you want her to die? No." James spoke silently, "I can understand your feelings." James saw his watch, it was time for the college to close. "Listen, we should go out now. The college is gonna close in few minutes."

"Yeah... I have to get to work..." Savanna sighed. She still sang, so she worked as a singer/waitress at the Coffee shop. "Thank you..." She sighed, waving goodbye and leaving. -
"Alright. See you." He waved back. James reached home. It was night and he couldn't sleep. He thought about all he heard that day. It was hard for him.

Savanna looked in the mirror and turned on the light. She couldn't sleep. She looked at a picture in the corner of her mirror. It was Maria on picture day. Maria was very nervous, so they took a practice picture to help her calm down. "I am a weirdo. I've always been a weirdo... I'm okay with that... But being a weirdo took your life that day..." She told the picture. She imagined actually making a new friend many times... But now the chances of that friend being hurt were increased.
The next day, she sat alone once again in the cafe. She ignored the laughs and jeers and sat down. -

James woke up and hurried himself. He was late.

She saw James come in, late. She wondered if she should wave to him, but she decided that making friends wasn't the best option. So she got her stuff together and left.

James went in. He saw a girl going out, and he guessed that she was Savanna. He thought that she must've been hurt by his friends' comments and she's still upset.

"Hey James! I know she's pretty, but I think it would be best to leave the weirdo alone." Larry advised when he saw his friend watch as the girl left. "Yeah, no reason to risk your reputation. There are plenty of fish in the sea!" One of the popular girls agreed.
