~The Sorting Ceremony~
Many students waited in anticipation, excited and nervous to be sorted into their houses. Among them was the beautiful and dark Audrey Pruette, single child of the Pruettes. Her surname was basically shunned from the magical world, as her father, Anthony Pruette had done some very evil deeds. Her name was one of the first to be called, when professor McGonogal declared she was next to be sorted. She nervously walked up, knowing how unpredictable and rude the sorting had could be. It was gently sat atop her head, and within a moment, which felt like forever, the word Slytherin was called out. She grinned, walking to confidently join the Slytherin table.
Chester watched people be sorted, and it intimidated a lot. He was a "half blood" he learned yesterday. Although most half bloods were raised by both parents, he was raised by his non magical mother, and had no idea what was going on. He felt like a mudblood in the crowd, making him feel very insecure. He dreaded the time when he would have to waltz up to the hat and have all eyes on him. Oh, the agony this was.. -
I can't do long paragraphs:(

..you can try?

Duncan Drake stood in the midst of the other young magical people, waiting to claim a spot on a table he had been waiting to join. He kept his chin high and attempted to hide a playful glee that arises from him every time something exiting is about to occur. His name was called and he strutted forward and stood below the sorting hat. The sorting hat chuckled and said "I don't even need to be placed on this one! Griffindor!" The table erupted in cheer and Duncan walked and sat down near the other first years.
Marisa Chase watched as Duncan was sorted and stated after him with admiration. Soon her name was called and she happily skipped under the hat and it was placed on her head. It was cooling and she shut her eyes and hoped to go to a house she had dreamed of being in her whole life. Moments felt like years until she was finally sent to Griffindor and jumped up and down with joy before running to the table and embracing Duncan then taking the seat next to him. -
Gtg, talk tomorrow

Ok) Artemis and Christine were best friends among the crowd of 1st years to be sorted when Artemis was called up Christine looked nervous because that meant she was next. Artemis walked up to the stool and the hat was placed on her head the second it touched her head it yelled,"SLYTHERIN."The Slytherin Students cheered and whooped so Artemis smiled widely and went to sit down.
When it was Christine's turn to go up she hesitated slightly after all she was really shy and super stage frightened but she went up and sat on the stool. The hat was lowered on to her head and after about 2 minutes of extreme torture the hat yelled,"RAVENCLAW," Chrstine sighed happily and smiled at Artemis over at the Slytherin table and then smiled at the Ravenclaws and sat down. -
Audrey began to chat with the other people in Slytherin. Some of them were dark, and she found many of the men were rather ambitious. However, she could point out a few that were nice, genuine souls. "I'm so excited to start of the year." She stated, and many first years agreed, chuckling. Her hair was in a high pony tail, and she tapped her fingers on the table. "I'm starving." She heard a girl say, "I wish this would go faster."
"Yeah, as do I." Audrey admitted.
(Also here's a picture of Audrey in her third year
Chester's name was called, and he almost immediately flushed red. He began to shake, feeling eyes on him as he walked up to the chair. He sat there, wanting to squeeze his eyes shut and tune out the world. He managed a fake confidence, gazing out above the crowd. The hat took quite a bit to decide, "This one is hard. He's nervous. But I see knowledge. But I see loyalty. Lots of loyalty. It's either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. ..Although I see his loyalty is more prominent, he will do better in Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw!" Therefore, Chester walked to his table. -
Artemis goes to talk to Audrey. Goes up to her and says,"Hi."
-
Duncan and Marisa started chatting with all the others, figuring out things about their house. Duncan got up to use the bathroom and left. As he rose, three malicious looking Slytherins stood and followed him out. Maria's saw this and leaped to her feet to go warn her friend.

Soon, the sorting ceremony came to a close. The food was placed apon the tables magically, and the houses began to feast. Audrey looked in shock to the wide array of food placed in front of her, wondering where in all possibilities such a myriad of food could even come from. Her stomach growling, she picked up a slice of ham, a spoon of potatoes, and a small side salad to start herself off. 'This is truly all you can eat.' She thought to herself.
Chester was was astounded at the amount of food, as every other first year was. 'This magic thing,' He thought, 'It's awfully confusing, but it has it's perks.' Stunned, it took him a while to begin to serve himself. He was raised completely away from magic, his mother never believing the possibility that his father was a wizard. Now here he was, at a wizarding school to use his powers. It was all quite insane in Chester's eyes. -
The doors bursts open and three Slytherin boys came flying into the hall and slamming into the wall, badly bruised. Silence took the hall and Duncan walked in and stood in the room. "Ello everyone." He walked over and sat down at his table as the Slytherins where dragged back to theirs. Marisa slowly walked in and took a seat next to Duncan. Talking resumed and Funcan ate ravenously as Marisa sat and looked at him, eyebrow raised. "What?" Duncan said with a mouth full of food.
-
Audrey began to gobble down her food, not even pitching in the slightest effort to make small talk with her house. She was more than excited to start the school year off- What could be better than a magical school where you could learn anything? It was all right at her fingertips, and nothing was a better feeling. Even if she was quite filled with anticipation. She wasn't sure what she wanted to learn, the career she wanted to go in. But Audrey knew one thing for sure- she would not follow her father's path.
The Ravenclaw boy barely had an appetite to eat. Not in a bad way, not that he felt sick, he was just so distracted and excited by the new surroundings. This place would be his for the next few years, and he could create a future he never knew existed. Chester would learn how to ride on broomsticks, learn spells, make potions. It was everything any preteen would ever want. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that only select people got- and he felt ever so fortunate for this to fall into his hands. -

Family: Oscar Arwen, wizard placed in Slytherin house. He is gentle, brave and caring (yes, not all Slytherins are evil), as well as very ambitious. When Lucy was six, he died in a wizard duel. Her mother is Alison Arwen. Alison is warm, considerate, caring, and helpful. She currently lives in a small house that she built, and she works as a farmer. Lucy has a brother called Oscar (who was named after his father, as her mother was pregnant with him when Oscar 1st died), and he is five years old.
Future: Lucy starts a shop called "the Wandering Teapot", selling tea her father showed her how to make at three (she is a really good cook, by the way). Her father wanted to make a shop like this, so Lucy honored him by making it at the age of 22. This became a popular attraction in Hogsmeade, and she made quite a lot of money. Her children were called Alexa and David (two years age difference).
Roleplay Example:
Lucy laughed to herself as she skipped down the corridor with her friend, Janie. She smiled, and she took a bite out of a chocolate. If only the teachers knew that Janie's sister, Eliza, smuggled it in from Hogsmeade. Lucy laughed at the thought, and she immediately stuffed it in her mouth.
Lucy eagerly looked at her chart. She loved school, and was very happy to get another class. However, Lucy's mouth bended into a pout as she discovered the next class was Potions. Lucy always hated Potions, and the fact that she had chocolate smeared on her face didn't help... -
SunsetMoon NewbieLucy felt like she had just swallowed a slimy toad. Her father told her about the hat, but she wasn't sure what to expect. Did her mischievousness and bravery land her in the house of the lions? Would the sorting hat judge her because she was smart and creative? Would her hard work, intelligence, and loyalty make her dress in yellow and black? Or maybe the sorting hat would take her ambitions in account for placing her in Slytherin.
"Arwen, Lucy." Lucy felt a jolt, and she awkwardly slid up to the chair. All was silent but a few coughs and laughs as she forced herself to plaster a grin onto her face, and nervously sit down. Lucy never liked being in front of people.
Lucy fiddled with her shirt as she saw the sorting hat fall on her head. She mentally groaned as the sorting hat covered her eyes. Why did she have to be so short? She could hear giggles from taller first-years as they discovered this oddity.
The sorting hat's three seconds of quiet scared her. It felt like a century, and she was dying to see her house. The emblems were flashing in her mind, and she felt like she couldn't stand the wait any longer.
"Ravenclaw!" Ravenclaw? Well, looking back at it, she should have expected that. She was very bookish, and she loved to study. Also, creative pastimes were not uncommon for her. But then again, her father was a Slytherin. Oh, well, she thought. 'Ravenclaw suits me better.'
Lucy felt like Queen of the Earth as she skipped away to join a group of studious-looking teenagers. This, she thought, is where I belong.
