Rhonen had started a small fire in a shallow hole he'd recently dug, showing Aniel what to do and how to cook their food without it burning or getting too close to the ashes. The pup looked up at him curiously. "When can I go hunting?"
"When you can completely change. Don't worry, only a few more years until you start maturity, Aniel." He smiled, petting the boy's hair.
Rayne looked up at her knowingly and gave a thin smile. "Maybe it's for the best. That he doesn't follow his instincts that is. I didn't follow mine." She hummed as she carefully poured a thick liquid on the wound. "This should stop any infection. Keep the germs out." -
She walked in right as Rhonen was explaining this to him. She pressed a kiss to her lover's head, sitting next to him after putting her clothes back on. "Actually, Rho, I was wondering about that.. Can I teach him how to use a bow? It'd be useful for you all during the New Moon. And it would be helpful for me. More fur to sell, you know," She explained, snuggling next to him with her knees to her chest.
"His instincts? And what are those?" She nodded, giving Rayne a small smile. "Thank you." -
Rhonen smiled at the kiss and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, raising an eyebrow at the suggestion. "A bow, huh? I suppose. Not as quick as hunting in feral form but much safer when hunters are about. On one condition, you help us make them. We can use knives to cut and carve wood easier than using our claws."
"Oh, nothing you need to worry about. You're human, our instincts are difficult for a lot of humans to understand or believe." She told the younger, wrapping her leg as gently as she could manage. Her nose twitched a bit. "Besides, your lifestyle isn't suited for it.." -
Nevaeh grinned at him, and nodded. "I have a good set of them at home that we can bring back with us. They're pretty easy to make, but the arrows have to be perfectly straight, so that's a bit harder. Of course, we'll need to kill a turkey or something for feathers, and.." She rambled on, passionate about her hunting to the point of no return.
"..I would believe, lady. I don't have no right to discredit something you know more about," Lynna encourage, but her liking for the woman fizzled completely at the comment. "..Mhm. I guess so." -
"Killing turkey's fine with me. Tasty dinner right there." The young wolf grinned, listening to his mate go on about what they we need and how to do everything, fascination shining in both his and Aniel's eyes.
"Soulmates, honey. Everyone has one, humans don't have the sense like we do though. So most of the time you don't believe something like that. Your friend and our chief's son are soulmates. And I'm pretty sure you're Jule's." She cracked a true smile while she shifted to sit back and relax for a bit. "He's trying to hide it, but it's written all over his red cheeks. Doesn't matter though. Even if you did like him, you wouldn't be able to settle down." -
"Mm.. You know what? Let's just eat for now. What're you cooking?" Nevaeh knew that Rhonen and Aniel were probably hungry, and there would be a later time for her to bring up her love for hunting. Tomorrow, she'd take Aniel out to go set off her traps so no one else got hurt.
"..I could settle down. I just can't stop working," Lynna explained, looking away. She hated that they all knew, and she hated that this person that she was supposedly made for her couldn't love her because of her work. -
"..Rabbit, I think. It was a small animal when it was skinned." Rhonen let Aniel continue the cooking, watching the boy's eyes sparkle with hunger. The older smiled and picked through a pile of berries to nibble on. "We have these, too."
"And that's where the problem lies. Us werewolves are very territorial beings when it comes to mates. If any other male of any kind tried to touch Nevaeh, Rhonen would be on his ass like maggots on a corpse. Jule is fighting with himself to protect against being hurt or causing harm to another." Rayne sighed softly, picking at her nails and using a small rock to file them. -
She nodded, and gave Rhonen a smile, humming. "Do you grow anything, or just what you find in the forest? I have- I had a small garden.. Potatoes, strawberries, carrots, the like. I like cooking, but I'm not that good at it." She explained, shrugging a bit.
"That's just took bad, huh?" Lynna hummed, staring at Rayne with unforgiving eyes. "Well. I guess I should find someone else to take me home, huh? Because it's clearly not a good idea to let Jule get attached to some whore." -
"I know some of the ladies like to have their own plants, but it's not like we have one big garden or farm. We share each other's food and help gather and hunt." He explained, leaning on her shoulder while watching Aniel.
"I knew you wouldn't understand..." She shook her head lightly, exhaling deeply. "That's probably why I'm just a lonely old shewolf, right? Because I did what would cause less grief for myself and those around me." -
"Mm.. Who has what? Oh, at some point, I'll probably need to meet everyone and get names, you know.. Oh, it'll be a struggle to match faces. How many of you are there?" She looked over at him, frowning.
"..Why? What was wrong with your soulmate?" Unlike Nevaeh, Lynna had no problem prying. She did it with Molly and Ella, and had found out the exact situation they had ran away from. After bugging Cora for a full month and a half, she found out that the father of her child was a noble of the kings court who had supposedly promised her the world. -
"Depends. My mother likes raspberries and grows them somewhere. There's quite a few of us, but you'll learn who's who soon enough." He smiled at his mate and looked at their pup once he was done cooking. "It's time to eat."
"He was just a man. A married man." She frowned, staring off into nothing and remembering the past. "I was pretty and young, but too late to have met him. I had actually gotten the courage to approach him, but once I saw that other woman, I knew it wasn't worth it. Soulmates or not, he knew her and she was human, not some wild animal.." -
"I don't like raspberries.. They get stuck in my teeth," Nevaeh frowned, but smiled when it was announced to be dinner time. "Do you have plates? Forks? Napkins?" She knew in her heart that they probably didn't, but she asked anyways.
"Oh. That must have sucked. I slept with married men all the time.. Sometimes I sleep with married woman. Depends on if they pay well enough," She said, casually, with no regard for anyone else who might have been listening. "And, let me say, married woman tip a lot." -
"We could always crush them into jam for you." Rhonen gave her a look that practically spelt out the answer for her. He figured that she knew by now that those things didn't exist to them, and teased her a bit. "You have hands, sweetheart."
"Well, unfortunately it's 'mate with the one or mate with none' here. No one will say anything about what you do, but they'll see you as a shameless disgrace." Rayne told her honestly, thinking that it wasn't so bad if some wolves grew up alone. Less pups around. "..I'm sure you have your reasons for your work though."
Jule had never been more disgusted as he moved away from the medical hut, looking up at the sky questioningly. He'd stuck around to make sure Lynna was all right, but after what just hit his ears, he couldn't stand being there anymore. Why had he been paired with someone that shared her sacred parts with everyone? Why couldn't he have been paired with a shewolf that valued her virtue? -
"I like jam," She admitted, and huffed when he made fun of her. "Yeah, I also have table manners.. But fine. Just, like, give me a stick or something," She asked. "Please," Nevaeh added, more as an after thought. She had to set a good example for Aniel, anyways.
"..I don't really have a choice. I mean, I've thought about packing the girls up and moving far away. To Spain, maybe.. But Cora's about to bust that baby out into the world, and the twins aren't cut out for moving about in the world. They're only seventeen. Real small, too.. They wouldn't last a week. And if I left.. Well, either one of them would have to take up my job, or my employer would burn the house down. With them in it.. It sucks, but it's life," She explained, wishing for half a second that she could settle down. -
