"Yeah, I haven't eaten all day. I don't eat much during the day, anyways. I always eat at night, ya know?" Gunner hoped he would understand. He really desired a person to connect with. He had really lacked that for many years, and now, thinking about it, that's the one thing he truly wanted. He wanted someone to relate to and trust. He was always a lone wolf, and he thought having a partner would be a great thing. Gunner was always so lonely..how had he not realized it until now?
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley nodded. "I understand. Unless it's a dinner party or something, I usually don't eat until late either." he said. He looked at Gunner, and couldn't help but smile. He knew they had a connection, since he felt so relaxed with the brunette around. And no one had ever been able to calm him down like that before, even if Gunner had no idea he had done that. He wondered lightly what Gunner thought of him. Gunner always seemed strong and confident, although Riley would get flashes of other emotions from him. Like when he smiled, for real smiled, his eyes lite up too, turnig them a bright blue. Riley decided he wanted to see Gunner smile more.
-
"Yeah..but I don't have many "business meetings" especially not over dinner." Gunner chuckled. "They're mainly in dark allyways where people would be scared to get raped in." This made him smile a bit as well. It shouldn't, but it did. He loved going to places where other people would be scared out of their minds. It gave him a sense of confidence. Plus, it gave him bragging rights. Which he also loved. It was no secret Gunner was a bit of a bragger.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley chuckled. "Wow. Sounds wonderful" he joked. That should have scared him, but somehow it didn't. Gunner's job was a large part of his life, probably the biggest part, and Riley wanted to know all about it, and Gunner. "You're a big macho man then, eh?" he asked, smiling.
-
"Not entirely." Gunner admitted, "I do have fears. I just overcome them." He shrugged. "Fear is rationality. It keeps you safe. But sometimes it's irrational. Those are the ones that are imperial to get over for survival." He mused. Gunner had a lot of deep thoughts, and was happy to have someone to share them with. Human contact was so rare with him, and when he did have human contact, it was usually with people who would use the information against him. So to have someone to healthily open up to was a form of therapy for Gunner. A privilege, even.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley nodded. "True, but sometimes fears are just scars, inflicted upon the soul. Scars can fade but never go away" Riley said. He thought about her again, but quickly pushed it out of his head, looking up at Gunner. His blue eyes caught Gunners and he smiled lightly. He wanted to tell Gunner about it, but now wasn't the right time. Plus, even though they had a connection, they still had ony just met earlier that day. It wasn't something you just sprung on someone.
-
"The fact of the matter is- do you fear shame about those scars, or do you wear them like a badge of honor on your chest?" Gunner stated, distantly. He was in deep thought. Fear. He disliked the idea of it. He knew he needed it though. It was a tool given to him for survival. He couldn't avoid fear, he knew that. There was no point in running from it either. Gunner couldn't run from his past, either. The Lion King had taught him that. "Oh yes the past can hurt, but the way, I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it!" Yes, that was the quote. He didn't know what to learn from about his parent's deaths, though. Maybe one day he'd figure it out.
-
care_bear19 Novice"Neither, I wear my scars like battle armor. And I think, I hope, I've learned from my past." Riley said. And he did, he wore his scars like battle armor, to keep from getting more. He guessed that was why he pushed everyone away, to keep from losing them. That didn't really make sence now thathe thought about it though. He was happy Gunner was here, Riley got really lonely sometimes and was glad he was here. He felt open with Gunner, like could tell him everything and anything.
-
Gunner nodded. "I wear them like I wear my flaws. Badges of honor. They make me, me, so I'm not gonna be ashamed." The brunette gave a stupid grin. "Every mistake..no matter how stupid..you did it for a reason. Never be ashamed of doing something for a reason." His smile was large and white, as if he was thinking of something sinful that he enjoyed greatly. Which he was. Gunner wouldn't let Riley in on it, though.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley smiled back at Gunner. Happy to see the other smiling, even if it looked like he was thinking of something bad. Which he probably was. "Thanks." Riey said and yawned. "I'm extremely tired" he said, his brain slightly foggy from exhaustion. "I think I'm gonna go to sleep Gunner. You can help yourself to anything you want. Shower, TV, whatever." He went to his bag and tossed a white tee shirt and sports shorts at Gunner. "Good thing I buy mine too big. They should fit you" he said and went to get changed.
-
"Thanks." Gunner stated. "I think I'll take a shower. Sleep well. Oh! And by the way, you're kinda adorable." He laughed at his groggy self and headed into the bathroom. Gunner was sipping on self confidence, indeed. But he was enjoying every minute of it. Hey, as long as he was enjoying it, that was all that mattered, right? He looked into the mirror, slightly disguised by his appearance. He turned on the shower, checking the temperature to make sure it was comfortable, undressed, and got in.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley blushed slightly at Gunner's last words and changed into his shorts. He didn't sleep with a shirt so he just climbed into the bed and closed his eyes. Adorable? Hmm, he wasn't sure if he wanted Gunner to view him as adorable or not... oh well, he'd worry about it later, he thought as he drifted to sleep.

Should we time skip to the morning?)

Gunner had been up for a while. Since dawn, in fact. At dawn he had watched the sun rise, as the city was silent for an hour or so. It was peaceful and he enjoyed it. He was still leaning over the window when Riley woke up. When he realized he woke up, Gunner greeted him brightly and happily. His smoky powder blue eyes had light up with excitement, happy that Riley was awake. In a way, his eyes matched the color of the Atlantic Ocean.
