"Oh, please." He gave Riley a sour look as he walked in. He sat down at the table, picking at his fingernails. He took a while to look up and gaze around the room. Classic suite. Wasn't as high class as some of the rooms Gunner himself liked, but it was decent. It wasn't like he was going to stay in this room, after all. Sleeping anywhere near a target would make Gunner a little uncomfortable. "It's a decent room. High class, not as nice as I've seen, but decent, ya know?" He looked to Riley, blinking his bright blue eyes at him.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley looked at Gunner, sitting at the table and nodded as he moved his bags to the side and out of the way. "I don't need much. Never had much anyway" He lightly thought of his small childhood home. He wondered if it was still there. He had recently heard of the housing getting torn down around there. His mind flicked back to the present. He watched Gunner pick at his nails and sat down across from him at the table. "So... why exactly am I still alive, might I ask?" He said, tired of coaxing around the problem. Gunner was supposed to kill him. But hadn't.
-
"Don't ask me why I spared your life." He stated casually, raising his palms. The brunet then continued, in a low tone, "Honestly I am still trying to figure that out." Gunner's tone was gentle and kind, a way in which he rarely spoke. He was astounded by it- as it was genuine, not an act to manipulate people, like it was usually used. This caused even more havoc in his mind, which made him scowl a little. He quickly wiped that off his face, though. He replaced it with his usual, casual smirk.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley caught the battle on his face and decided not to push the subject further. He awkwardly ran a hand through his hair. "Well either way, Thank you.. i think" he muttered, his own battle going on inside his heaf. "So.. uhm..." Riley started but then stopped, unsure of what say or do. It's not exactly everyday you sit at a hotel table talking to a paid Assassin. Who had been paid to kill you...
-
Gunner peaked up a little. In fact, he almost jumped out of his chair. "How about we get to know each other a little more, eh?" He was suddenly bubbly and optimistic. One side of his mind had one- the compassionate and caring side. It was rare this happened, but he couldn't control it too much. Gunner had decided to do anything it took to make it up to Riley- protect him, become friends, do whatever he asked. Gunner made sure to keep this to himself, though, he didn't need Riley knowing what was going on in his head.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley gave a slightly confused look, to the now.. what was the word he was looking for... bright, Gunner. "Alright." He said. He still didn't trust Gunner, but he figured that maybe he wasn't such a bad guy,
dispite what he did for a living. He smiled at Gunner, a big winning smile. Slightly surprised at himself but he shrugged it off. -
"Soo. What made you so interested in politics?" He asked, chewing on the side of his mouth. Surprisingly, Gunner was actually genuinely curious. He wondered why someone so young would go into politics and be so successful. Most political leaders were in their late thirties to forties and older. It was practically unheard of for a young man- especially such an opinionated one to mean anything in the political community.
-
care_bear19 Novice"Well, when I was in high school, I had this teacher named Mrs.Clark. She was my favorite teacher and she taught 'Political Views and the World'. Well, of course, back then I tried to act cool." he said with a small smirk on his face. "Even though I was a complete nerd. So I pretended to dislike her. Well, nshe bet me that I couldn't do a better job at convincing the class of somehing than her. So I took the bet. Long story short, I lost, horribly." He said with a laugh "But she showed me that my strong, hard headedness, cold actually do me some good. And I liked it, so I went to college for Political Science, and started as an advisor two years ago. I just want to feel as though, I can change the way things are run." He gave a small shrug "I'm a perfectionist"
-
"Ah, that makes sense." Gunner smirked. "I got into my profession..by a small revenge I need to make." Okay, he was under exaggerating, but all the better. Riley didn't seem to interested in his sob stories anyways. "I feel like I'm doing some good, keeping dangerous people off the streets, and the job has its perks. But it's also really dangerous. Plus, it's not always easy to complete a mission. Usually I push through, reminding myself that these people are so good. But you weren't so easy." He gave a small sigh, biting his lip in some frustration. However, his mind was made up. You couldn't change his mind now.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley nodded "I understand" And he did, suprisingly. Gunner wanted to take bad people off the streets. He smiled at Gunner, a real smile this time. Even though Riley didn't like violence, he wasn't naive, sometimes it was a neccecary evil. "Who do you have to go revenge on?' Riley asked, slightly intrigued by the man sitting across from him.
-
"Criminals. It's a long sob story, really." He gave a small chuckle. Gunner was light-hearted for such a serious subject. In fact, he was having difficulty being serious at all. He was happy, smiling. This was a rare feat. All Gunner knew was focus and stress. This was a nice change. He liked it this way. "You don't need to hear my sob stories..not tonight. They're very depressing." His eyes widened, nodding gently. Gunner thought this boy was interesting, special, in a way. He genuinely felt a connection to the guy across from him. It felt..nice. He guessed. Gunner's mind was too tired to explain how he felt.
-
care_bear19 NoviceRiley smiled lightly, and nodded. "Okay.. maybe some other time then." He said looking at the dark haired guy across from him. Since the started talking, his demenor had changed, and Riley thought it was a good change. He liked seeing Gunner smile, instead of having a hard expression. He yawned, suddenly realizing how late it was.
-
"Well." Gunner stood, stretching out his arms. "It's awfully late, and you just almost got shot at, so you should head to bed." He yawned, lazily walking towards the door himself. He was quite tired, for his day wasn't easy either. He had a day full of traveling, emotions, and angry clients. He bit his lip at the idea of what he was getting himself into. He couldn't help himself though. Gunner couldn't kill Riley, especially not at this point. Instead of a mere hit, Riley had transformed into a real, breathing human with real emotions. He couldn't hurt him now.
-
care_bear19 Novice"Wait. Will I see you again?" Riley asked, tilting his head to the side. He didn't know why he was asking, or really why he cared but he did. It was insane, this man had almost killed him, but he was intrigued, curious even, about him and his life. He smiled at Gunner, his blue eyes sparkling slightly with unknown emotion.
-
"Depends if you want to." He turned to the side. His cold stare had returned- one of strength. "I'm not sure entirely where I'm going." Gunner admitted, looking to the ground. "I don't know where I'll stay. Here or not. I'm not sure if I brought along enough money.." The dark haired man trailed off a little. He was gruff looking, ungroomed. Sure, he was rather rich, and should be able to stay at the hotel, but he didn't like to bring money on hits. If he got killed, injured or jumped, the money was free to his attacker. He didn't want that to happen. Plus, a motel usually sufficed for the night.
