Joseph's dad opened the door and frowned a bit, but let Grey into the house. He pointed up the stairs to his son's room, not bothering to say hello or how she had been doing. He didn't really approve of her being around his son. Joseph on the other hand was playing a video game on his gift he got from her, partially engrossed in it and not even bothering to notice the doorbell had rang.
-
She headed upstairs, knocking and calling out a greeting before entering Joseph's room. Unlike him, she was good at remembering to alert others before she entered their space. But today, she almost couldn't stand it. The scent... it was still way too strong for comfort. What was it? Where was it coming from.
-
"Hang on a moment!" He stood up quickly, tripping over a pile of clothes and catching himself on the way down. He then got up again and opened the door, smiling at Grey, happy to see her after his slightly small breakdown. "Grey! Geez couldn't wait until I came over later." He moved out of her way so she could come in. "Sorry...my room is a mess.." he shrugged sheepishly and closed the door after she was in.

(Le bump for selo!!)

"Was the cake any good?" she asked, knowing that he hadn't enjoyed briefly celebrating with his parents. She saw the open device on his bed and walked over, turning it around so she could look at what he'd been doing. "Which starter did you pick?" she asked.
-
He rolled his eyes and closed his door slightly, knowing his parents might come in at a random time because of the rule they had since he hit puberty, the door should be left open when a girl was in the house. He walked over and sat on the corner of his bed, since she was hogging most of it. "Who do you think I chose? I always choose the fire starters so I went with Charmander." He smiled teasingly at her.

"And its name is...?" She smiled back, watching him play. She was tempted to ask if she could catch a Pokemon, since it'd been forever since she'd played the game, but decided against it for now. It was his birthday, and it was new to him. Though she wouldn't give it away, she couldn't ignore the smell. Was he wearing something or was it just naturally him? She wasn't sure why, but it was making her want to do things at that moment that she would've been ashamed of before. -
(Scary but cool~)
He chuckled lightly as she asked about the things name. "It's name is Kickass, because that's how bad ass fire types are." He kept playing for a moment and glanced at her. "Do you wanna try and capture a pokemon? I mean yeah maybe its my birthday, but I have you to thank for getting me this." He was glad that she was here, he felt weird after blowing the candles out. -
"You wish," she replied. Even though grass types were her favorite, her team still managed to beat his roughly half of the time. She watched as his character ran around for a while, then nodded as he handed over the game. Really, part of her would've rather played with something different, maybe... no. For the sake of both her sanity and his, she had to push that out of her mind. She focused on the game, running immediately into the tall grass to find something to catch.
-
He looked over her shoulder and watched her play, resting his head on her shoulder in a friendly and curious nature. "But knowing you, you only like grass types." He chuckled. "Which are weak against fire type." He liked teasing her sometimes, it always made him feel better and maybe throw her off her game a bit.
-
"Just means that I'm even stronger when my team beats your ass, Joseph," she replied, humming along with the battle music. Grey really got into the game, even though it was an incredibly basic Pokemon that she was battling against. She caught it after a little while and sat there for a moment, trying to decide what to name the creature.
Just as she was about to type in a name, her phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulled it out and read the text from her mother, which told her to come home immediately. Apparently, she could sense the strangeness as well, and didn't want her daughter caught in the worst of it. Before he could object, she named the Pidgey "DEEZNUTS" and handed the game back. "I've gotta go, I'm sorry." She got up and walked over to the door. -
He caught the game system quickly and nodded. "That's alright Grey. I'll talk to you tomorrow okay? I need someone's help with spending all this money I got." He smiled at her and waved goodbye, hoping that it wasn't something too bad. Of course he felt his gut tug at him a bit, making him glance out the window, seeing something move in his mom's flower garden, something bigger than a stray cat.
-
She took the stairs two at a time as she headed down, then waved goodbye to his parents as she went for the door. It was probably better for Grey to be away from her friend until this wore off. Hopefully, it had nothing to do with the dragon part of her. The thought only reminded her that she needed to share that with him, which only made her feel worse about the entire thing.
As she was about to head back, she realized that she could smell something... different. Something unfriendly, something threatening. She followed the scent, creeping around the side of Joseph's house. She could tell it wasn't human based on the scent, and therefore believed it necessary to transform. She could feel the change beginning involuntarily, and hoped that her friend wouldn't see her in her alternate form. -
He shrugged lightly and turned away from the window, not noticing the thing from the garden was getting closer to the house and closer to jumping onto the top of the back porch. It hissed lightly, sensing something else was coming after it's prey or even the beast itself, but it was the human child's sixteenth birthday, which caused the child to become a wonderful prize to all species. It licked its lips, ready to attack the boy and get it over with.
-
Fully transformed, Grey crept into the backyard. This form was much larger, standing roughly seven feet tall at the shoulder. She silently sneaked along behind the other beast, waiting for her chance to strike. She could smell another creature or two upwind, and felt panic rising in her chest. The dragon took her chance and leapt up onto the roof of the porch, scrambling to get herself up onto it. Her claws scraped against the roofing, causing some of it to fall to the ground. She pulled herself up and found that the space sagged under her weight, causing her to race toward the beast with newfound urgency. She grasped its tail in her jaws just as it tried to jump through the window.
