"That's good," Louis said again, this time turning his head slightly to direct it to Molly. He looked up and down at the doors, seeing how big and dark they were; very pretty, perfect for leading into a garden. "Mhm," he hummed. "Ready."
-
Ella grinned and opened the door, cheering a bit as she ran out. A large white fence surrounded a pretty decently sized area. The fence was mostly to keep the girls from wandering off, but also to keep people from wandering in. Different kinds of flowers and trees lined a paved path, that lead to a wooden swing, a slide, and monkey bars, as well as a sand box. Walking down the path was a very old, and very fat grey cat. Ella squealed, and ran to pick her up, shouting, "Cat!"
-
Louis was pretty busy being in awe of the garden. Since he'd loved in close-together suburbs, with a small backyard and no fence, he'd never had a garden or anything remotely like one. All the trees and flowers were so gorgeous, and he was only distracted when Ella ran for the cat- Cat. "Oh, so that's Cat, huh?" He strolled closer, so he could get a good look at the old thing.
-
Cat mewed in response, rubbing her head against Ella's chin, undisturbed by the awkward way the young child held her. Ella nodded, grinning. "Her name is Cat!"
"I think he knew that, Ella," Molly mumbled, folding her hands behind her as she started off down the path. -
Louis reached out carefully, to see if the cat would let him pet it on the back. He nodded to what Molly suggested, "Your daddy told me about Cat. I have a gecko, his name is Gecko. So."
-
Molly snickered, before disappearing behind a bush. Ella, with wide eyes, asked, "Can I see it? I have a snake! Well.. Not really mine, but I call her Scales."
-
"Mm," Louis shrugged. He sort of felt like staying in the garden for a bit. And he'd have to go back to the girls' room soon anyway to get the backpack Gecko was in. "Later, maybe. Let's stay outside."
-
"Okay!" Ella smiled at him, and sat Cat down, before taking off toward the small playground. For a couple minutes, there were happy little giggles from both her and her sister. And, then, Ella fell off the monkey bars, and screamed. She didn't hurt herself badly, but scarped her arm on a loose screw.
-
Louis followed slowly after her, knowing he was supposed to be somewhat keeping an eye on the girls. He sat on the swinging bench, so he could see them. When Ella fell and screamed, he jumped up abruptly, hurrying over, leaning over beside her. "Ella, are you okay?"
-
Ella held her arm, lip wobbling. She shook her head, showing him the light pink scratch. It had rubbed her skin off, but wasn't bleeding. Little tears puddled in her eyes. "Owiee."
-
Louis understood that even though the scratch wasn't bad, she'd probably still want a bandaid; he could be the same way. "Should we go inside and get you a bandaid, then?"
-
Ella nodded, still pouting and on the verge of tears. Molly was watching, laid out on the wooden swing. "They're in the second draw to the right of the fridge in the kitchen," She offered.
-
"Alright.." Louis breathed, though he wasn't so sure where the kitchen was. "Let's go," he said, holding out a hand to help Ella up. "Molly, are you coming with us?"
-
Molly shook her head, looking up at the sky. Ella sniffled, and held both of her hands out, wanting to be held on their way to the kitchen.
(Hey hey origin story) -
"If you're sure," Louis said, on Molly's decision to stay. "We'll be back in a few minutes." He looked back down at Ella, and seeing that she wanted lifted up, kind of hesitated. Louis wasn't exactly a big guy, and she was at least a third his size. He lifted her up, and sat her on his hip, carrying her back inside.
