"You don't act very young, really. It's kinda hard to believe." Oliver took in everything around him as they walked, amazed how the candles lit by themselves. "..How can you do that? All those magic things?" Oliver asked, walking into the room a little nervous. He wasen't sure what living quarters would look like in Hell, or if it would be anything like what his fancy bedroom was like.
-
He chose not to respond about his age. It was complicated to explain. "Technically, humans have a stronger magical ability than demons. Since I've studied magic for such a long time, I'm actually able to use it in everyday life. You could too, after some training." He stepped into the room after Oliver. It was nice enough, especially for a servant, with a large bed and a desk, but was extremely impersonal otherwise. It was connected to a medium bathroom, and the entire space was decorated in the same modern way as downstairs. On the outside wall, a large window looked out across the less-populated part of the city, with a mountainous expanse in the distance.

The thought of himself doing magic made Oliver a little sick to his stomach. He ignored the feeling, though, as he looked around the room. It was nice, not as nice as his bedroom at home though. He admired the view the window in the room gave him. He stepped towards it and looked out towards the mountainous region a little bit away. "You have a very nice home," Oliver said, turning back around to look at his master.
-
"Thank you. You'll find some servants' clothing in the closet. While it probably won't look like it should fit, it's enchanted so that shrinks or expands to fit the wearer. I know you probably don't want to wear it, but I expect you to do so if I ask you to run public errands." Douglas smiled, then turned to leave. "And feel free to sleep in tomorrow morning, you've had a rough night. Goodnight, Oliver." With that, he left.
-
Oliver nodded as he listening to what Douglas had to say. He, of course, didn't want to wear the servants' clothing, but he was going to do as he was told for the time being. "Mm, okay. Goodnight, Douglas," He replied softly. He looked around for another few moments before walking over to the large bed and crawling in. Deciding just to stick with his day clothes, he curled up into a tight ball under the covers and soon fell asleep.
-
Douglas spent a few hours working in his study. Most of it was passed with reading, especially texts on and from human culture. He eventually started going over his notes and making a solid plan on how to best utilize his guest. While he knew that the boy wanted to return to his own world, he couldn't avoid the thought that letting him was a very bad idea. There was a definite reason that Oliver wanted to be dead, and he didn't want to put him back into that situation.
Eventually, he retired to his bedroom, where he quickly fell into a heavy sleep. -
Oliver woke up early that morning despite having the knowledge that he could sleep in. He slowly got up and walked over to the window. He admired the view for a couple of minutes before walking over towards the bathroom. Oliver quickly washed his face and ran his fingers through his tangled hair after using the bathroom. Deciding that was the best he could do for right now, he slipped out of the bathroom and walked over to the closet. Though he didn't want to wear the servants' clothing, he didn't want to stay in his clothing from yesterday. He quickly changed, noticing that the clothing did as he said, shrinking to fit his small figure.
-
Douglas slept peacefully on his stomach, his wings spread across the bed and his legs tangled in the blankets. He clutched a pillow close to his chest as he snoozed. The demon murmured something about dancing, then let out an annoyed snore and fell back into complete unconsciousness. For the first 1980 years of his life, he'd had a human around to wake him up. The past twenty years hadn't resulted in any sort of habitual changes, so it was up to the new servant to force him awake, a difficult task.
-
Oliver tugged at the tight cloth for a moment, distracted, before he decided to go do something. He creaked his door open, slipping out of the bedroom. He looked around a bit, searching for Douglas's room. The demon didn't seem to be awake, so Oliver guessed it was his job to find him. Finally, when he creaked open yet another door, he saw the demon lying on his stomach, wings spread out. It was quite a sight, and Oliver stood at the doorway for a few minutes before walking in. He tip toed towards the bed, lightly tapping on Douglas's shoulder in attempt to wake him up.
-
He let out a low growl and clutched the pillow closer to his body. His tail swatted towards the edge of the bed, hitting the human lightly. Waking the sleeping beast was harder than it looked.
-
Oliver let out a little yelp when he felt the tail hit him. He huffed, swatting at the demon's face with the back of his hand. "Wake uppp!" He whined.
-
Douglas's eyes shot wide open, the rage of a thousand fires flaming within them. He sat up, perched on the edge of the bed with wings spread and fangs exposed. "Who dares disturb my--oh, good morning Oliver. Did you sleep well?" He pulled his wings back in and slid off of the bed, stretching once he reached the ground. The demon yawned, feeling slightly bad that he'd nearly pounced on his new servant like that. He couldn't die from fright on his first day.
