"Because.. Because I'm small, I guess. I don't like dealing with their s---, so I ignore it. Most everybody knows my dad's a drunk, and.. Yeah," He explained, shrugging a bit. "I'm not officially out at school, but people suspect things. I mean, I haven't dated a girl since primary school, so there's that. And I like plaid shirts, so, I'm not too good at hiding it," He joked.
-
"Psh, plaid doesn't make you not straight. They may be right about that, but you have a new teacher that unfortunately has to hide in the closet, too. It's disgusting how we can't be open and free like straight men. Straight males have slept with their female students before. I know I'm a bad example, but not every gay teacher wants to sleep with their same gender students." Matty exhaled deeply, remembering how he had to be as low profile as possible when he'd come to this town. The principal himself was a religious prick, so he did his best to keep his personal affairs private.
-
"You've a very bad example, I agree," Charlie laughed, shaking his head. "It's alright, though. I'm almost done with school, and then I'm leaving.. I think, I might do up the coast. Maybe to New York," He hummed at the picture he painted of his future, knowing it grew less likely every time he went to bed with another man.
-
"Aww you're gonna leave me to fend for myself? How awful of you." The young teacher teased and smiled lightly. He would really miss having the younger in his company, but if he could have a better life somewhere else, he would bare with being alone again. "What do you want to do in New York?"
-
"..I could come visit," He shrugged, but didn't really mean it. Charlie would never step foot in this town again. He wanted to go far, far away, and never even think about coming back. "I don't know you. Perhaps I'll write a book or something. Maybe I'll run one of those little food stands on the corner. Or maybe I'll work in the fashion business," He grinned, leaning forward. "Picture it. Plaid fish net. My two loves combined," He joked, sitting back, shaking his head. "I don't know. Something."
-
It was true that Charlie didn't know him, and he didn't know Charlie. So he had to question why they were even out together at the moment; Two strangers just sitting around making small talk about what the younger's life. He blinked at the boy's grin as he talked about fashion. "Fishnet.. and plaid? What an interesting combination. I would wonder how you managed to pull off making such a thing."
-
(I don't know you was supposed to be I don't know yet)
"I was.. I was joking. That sounds.. Catastrophic," He shook his head, still smiling. "I actually want to just.. Live. I don't know what I'll do yet. Something, I guess. I might just get myself a sugar daddy for a bit, until I figure stuff out." He hummed at the thought, but shrugged yet again. -
(...what)
"Would still be a fascinating piece though." Matty laughed lightly as their food was finally brought to them. The young man grabbed a slice, pouring a little garlic over it, and took a bite. "A sugar daddy? Aren't they usually creepy old pervs though? And what if he keels over and doesn't leave you with anything" -
(When he was talking and said "I don't know you" and went on to talk about possible jobs.)
"I think I can be picky in a big city.. I'm sure I can find someone attractive and only.. Slight old," He grinned, shaking his head, staring at the food. He grabbed a slice, and folded it in half, taking a bite. He chewed slowly, staring at Matty. "Or I might just go to a college on scholarship. I have pretty nice grades.." -
(okie I got you now)
"Whatever or whoever makes you happy. And your grades are good, at least in English. I haven't been nosy about your other classes yet." Matty teased while he ate, enjoying the talks between them. Then on a more serious note, he admitted, "All I want from any student is success and happiness in their lives.." -
"Straight A's, all across the board. Unlike my sexuality, of course," Charlie joked, nodding at his comment. "Well. You know. Some kids go far, some don't. Anyways," He hummed, taking another bite. "What else do you do?"
-
"That's good. Maybe you'll get a scholarship somewhere nice and be able to pursue whatever it is you want to do." Matty flushed with embarrassment and lowered his head. He'd spent a lot of time alone, so he didn't know what he even liked to do besides teach. "I.. I don't really have any hobbies... And being new to town, I don't really have a whole lot of friends yet either.."
-
"..Oh, don't worry. I've lived in this town my whole life, and I still don't have but one friend," He assured him, giving him a thin smile, in an attempt to cheer him up. "I think after I finish eat, I.. I'm going to go home. I can't hide from my dad forever, and anyways, he's probably at work, so as long as I stay in my room.." He trailed, and shrugged. "I guess I'll see you at school?"
(Okay, so when they go to bed, time skip to when Charlie's all healed up?) -
"You're sweet to try to reassure me, but friends aren't my only worry. I'm hoping to find someone, too, but the way things are right now, I probably won't. Everyone needs love in some way or another. But... I don't think anyone would be able to handle me.." He trailed as well then shook his head, smiling at the younger. "Do you need a ride? It's awfully cold, and I wouldn't want you to add illness to your injury."
(Sounds like a plan) -
"If I can handle you, I'm sure someone else your own age can," Charlie assured him, shaking his head as he finished up the slice he was eating. "I can get a cab. That way if my dad is home for some reason, he wont badger me about who drove me home," He hummed, standing, gathering himself. He adjusted the strap on his sling, wanting it off badly.
