Philip returned his plate and fork to the large dish sink, with a cold glare from Matilda, the old cook. He grinned in her direction, and strode to the deck. The helmsman was always up early to eat, clean up, and soon steer the ship. As he heard the Captains footsteps, he whirled around and waved. "Good morning, sir." Philip nodded and looked around. "Remember the plan, Micheal. In and out. Thirty minuets tops." Micheal nodded and got back to steering the ship. "It's about a mile away. Get the men ready, sir." But by the time Micheal looked back, he was already to the cabin door. When Philip arrived to the eating area, he grabbed a chair and stood on it to grab the crews attention. As he looked around they started to quiet down. "Look, men, I'm giving the plan today. It's in and out. Find anything valuable, kill if you need to. This village isn't very well guarded, which is good." The nodded and kept their eyes on the Captain. "Nobody show mercy. Get food if possible also.. We're running low by the way." There were a few chuckles. "That will be all, man." There was a chorus of "ayes" as Philip left the room. -

Janette had time to spare before her piano lessons, a thing she detested, but did to please her parents. She moved away from the mirror, dropping onto her bed, staring at the wood-plank ceiling. Rolling onto her stomach, she fished a book out from under her bed- One on medical science, something Father had gifted her for her fourteenth birthday.
She opened to the page she had marked, reading softly aloud, getting lost in the wonders of healing and medicine, and testimonies of abstract methods working. Janette wanted nothing more than to attend a college on the mainland, and become a doctor, but the dream seemed far off. -
(Oh nuuu don't cry... D:)
Philip went to the deck to check up with Micheal. "We're getting ready to dock." He announced. Philip nodded and looked over the side of the boat, and it was, the dock. He held his hands behind his back and grinned as men scurried around him to get ready. Micheal tapped his shoulder. "We're almost ready, just getting the weapons now. Oh, I'll guard the ship, along with a few other men." Philip nodded and to his room to retrieve his sword. When he came out the men were in somewhat of a line, looking jittery and ready to steal. Philip raised and waved his hand in the air. "Go on, men." They cheared and started jumping off the side of the boat onto the dock. Philip smiled cooly as he hopped off along with his crew and started running with them. -
(criiiiiesss)
Janette was falling asleep with Father busted into her room, slamming the door against the wall. She jolted awake, sitting up. "W-What? Did I miss my piano lesson? What's-"
"Janette. A ship full of pirates just docked. I.. David's still in town. I have to go get him. Stay here, alright? In your room. And don't open the door for anyone!" With that, he was gone, closing the door behind him.
Janette sat in silent shock, eyes wide. She had heard stories about pirates. Murderous men, who stole and destroyed. -
(Ohhh nuuu *pats your back like a baby*)
Philip went his own way as the crew separated around the Village. One medium sized house caught his eye, a feeling drawing him there. The sheathed sword hit his left leg with every step. "Hello? Anyone in there?" He asked nocking the door rather hard. "Either way, I'm coming in." He said starting to kick the door with all his force. -
Janette sat in silence for a good ten minutes, but snapped out of it when she heard someone at the door. She resisted the urge to scream, and got up, locking her bedroom door, starting to shove something in front of it. She stopped, though. What if Father returned home, and whomever was breaking in attacked him, and he needed her help?
So, instead, she crawled under her bed, laying there in silence.
David and his husband rushed in almost right after the pirate had broken down the door. Though Father was about to attack him from behind, David couldn't help but shout for Janette. "Jana! Are you alright?" And the poor girl couldn't help but respond. "Daddy!", and start to crawl out from under her bed. -
Philip whipped around to find two men shouting for a girl behind him. He unsheathed his sword in the blink of an eye and held it out. "Step away before I slash each of your necks and stab your eyes out." He demanded.
-
By that time, Janette had bolted out of her room, and was standing behind the pirate, peering over his shoulder at her parents. She choked out a sob at the threat, and started to say something as David stepped forward. "Please, take anything you want. But leave her alone. Please."
-
He grinned and spun around to finally see who was causing the little girl sounds. Philip trusted his long years of training as he walked sideways, one a stretched torwards the couple, his other by his side as he eyed the girl. "Such a lovely thing." He stated, grabbing her arm. "Get out of the way." He growled, letting the sword never waver.
-
David let out a noise of anger, throwing himself at the man, trying to move his hand off Janette's arm. Meanwhile, her father moved for a small plank of wood by the door, planning to use it as a weapon.
-
Philip slashed at the mans neck, deep enough to get him to back up, all while keeping his iron like grip on the girl. "Tsk tsk, my jolly old fellow." He teased. Out of the corner of his eye a movement caught it. The other father. He then slashed the other mans back and started running with girl. "Care to tell me your name, milady?"
-
Janette watched both of her parents blood fall to the floor, watched the receding house as she was pulled away, helpless to do anything. Knowing, however, what the pirate could do, she answered softly, "Janette."
-
Philip smiled as a small breeze picked up. "Janette... What a beautiful name." He said sheathing his sword. The dock and ship was a ways to go, but he didn't mind finally being on land. "I'll show the magical wonders of the sea." He said, hoping to open her up. "I'll give you riches, jewelry, dresses, books, you name it, Janette."
