"Mhm. Yeah, hold on." Mercury opened the gate, placing a hand on Tim's shoulder to guide him in. He kept his hand there, holding the dog's leash in the other.

The man pursed his lips, holding back a complaint about the way Mercury was trying to lead him. He kept shuffling forward, swallowing down the urge until his foot caught on a random something on the grojnd and he yelped, "Wait, wait." He stopped where he was, fearing falling if he tripped again. "I need to be behind you."

"Um.. Yeah, okay." Merc could hear the tenseness in the man's voice, and he complied with the request, stepping in front of him. "It's only about three yards to the house from here, and there's three small steps onto the porch, and then one into the house. Okay?" He worried that he was talking a bit too quickly for him, and bit his lip, wondering if he needed to repeat himself.
