Edward watched as few barely visible wisps of steam curled lazily up from the warm water, waiting for the tub to fill up. "So, what about your other family?" He asked while they waited. "Any other siblings?" -
"..I had two other brothers. They're both dead now. And I had a baby sister who died at birth. Ither than that, no family. And you, Edward?"

"Ah, I'm sorry," He said, stepping into the warm water. "Me? Well...my brother died a long time ago. I've got a sister somewhere, but I haven't spoken with her or heard anything about her in years. She could be dead." He said with a slight shrug. He hadn't been particularly close with either of his siblings.

"No. They both disliked me, so it's okay." Maurice slipped into the water after him, and when he sat down, snuggled himself into the man's lap, enjoying both his body warmth, and that from the water.

Edward wrapped his arms around Maurice from behind, hugging around his torso loosely. "Why didn't they like you? If you don't mind telling me."

"Eliseo, my oldest brother was.. He was very rude to me as a child, and he never really grew out of it. He was a blacksmith, and he died in a fire a year or so ago. The second oldest, Mareth, was a preacher. He hated me for obvious reasons," He paused to lean into his chest, sighing softly. "He was shot. And now it's just me and Cade."

"And you two get along?" He asked. It had certainly seemed like Cade cared for Maurice, he seemed like a good person. As he asked his question, he reached out to grab a bar of soap.

"Mhm. He's pretty much my best friend, really." It was an understatement. Cade was his only friend, from childhood, to even now.

"It'll be nice for you to see him again then," Edward replied, beginning to glide the soap over both his skin and Maurice's, making sure they would be clean by the time they had to go to dinner.

"Mhm. But really, Edward, we can't stay here. I had forgotten about the laws. We can't risk that." He allowed himself to be cleaned, moving like a doll in Edward's hands as he ran the soap of him.

Edward frowned as he finished washing the two of them. "The ship's already left. I'm sorry, I didn't realize we'd need to leave. But we can stay a few days until another ship docks here, and then we can get a ride someplace else, alright?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I suppose that would work." Though, he dreaded the idea of being at sea again- He would just have to grin and bare it, though. It wouldn't be for long, and it would be worth it. "Let's finish up, hm?"

Edward nodded and quickly finished, stepping out of tub and grabbing a pair of towels, holding one out to Maurice. "Alright, maybe we can ask Cade how often ships come here too, just to know how long we'll have to manage."

Maurice sunk down in the water for a second, savoring it's warmth, before he got out and took the towel from Edward, drying his body off, wrapping it around his waist. He ran a hand through his hair, and grabbed another towel, wrapping it around the dripping mess. "Mhm. But, Edward, if one isn't coming soon enough.. I don't know.." He sighed softly, disliking the risk they were taking by being there.

Edward smiled at him reassuringly. "It'll be fine. I'll protect you, and I'm sure Cade will too if anyone finds out. And I can take care of myself. We'll both be fine." He promised, although he was trying to convince himself as well.
