She glanced at the Harold as he announced who they were. "People of they royal court, the king and queen are proud to introduce their guests, the two who conquered the Northern territories in a matter of a month, General Estada and her daughter, Colonial Danielle Rogers."
She blinked seeing many people clap and cheer at what they had done, just like on the battle field. She followed Estada's example and bowed at the royal court. When she straightened back up, they both walked in sync down the steps, just like they practiced. -
There was a knock at his door, which he had no choice but to answer. He walked over and unlocked it, then pulled it open.
"Sir, you are needed downstairs for the ball," the maid told him, watching expectantly. She stepped back to let him past.
The prince stepped out, closed the door quietly, then made his way down the hall nervously. -
Danielle nodded politely at the royal members of the court and watched Estada mingle with them all. She was better with people than her own adopted daughter was. She watched as a few of the younger dukes and some princes glance at her with hunger, causing her to glare at them in digust. Estada saw her glare and shook her head, muttering about how she would have to get used to it someday.
-
He was greeted by the herald shortly before she was announced to the court. "People of they royal court, the king and queen are proud to introduce their sole heir, James Rockwell Beridenn."
Jem sheepishly stepped off the last stair and headed for the hosts' table. -
She stopped quickly and turned abruptly on the balls of her feet to see the prince walking down the stairs. It was him, well he wasn't the chubby seven year old boy she knew when she was a child, but it was him. Estada turned and looked at her daughter, watching the prince go to the king and queen's table, causing a small smile to appear on her lips.
-
He didn't notice her, and instead sat down at the second to last seat at the end of the table. He reached for the wine glass, which was already full, and took a sip.
-
Estada placed her hand on her daughter's shoulder. "Come on, lets get seated." She nodded lightly as th both sat down near the king and queen, since they were honored guests of the court. She tapped her foot impatiently, wanting to talk to a very old friend, but it would have to wait.
-
He was trying to hide his awkwardness in his drink, but also doing his best to look like an alcoholic. In addition, he rarely drank other than at these events. He set down the glass and glanced down the table.
-
She didn't drink any of the wine that was given to her, Estada told her that she shouldn't drink at the event because she would wake up with a terrible headache. She glanced down the table at the prince, seeing as the servents started bringing out the meal for tonight.
-
He was grateful that dinner was being served, so he had even more of an excuse not to talk. He swore he'd seen one of the guests before, but she was probably one of the princesses from before. Maybe his parents had taken marriage matters into their own hands.
-
She saw that one of the servents put a steaming lobster in front of her causing her to drool a bit. Military rations were disgusting compared to this. She waited until everyone was served before her and Estada started eating with the royal court.
-
He caught himself staring, and looked back to the food in front of him. At least he had good manners. As he started to eat, the duke next to him struck up a conversation. Jen didn't really listen, but it seemed to be about one of the princesses.
-
Of course after they all ate, they would be moved to the Ballroom which Danielle despised the most, of all the things Estada taught her she was the worst at dancing. The king and queen stood up after eating and walked to the ballroom. Estada and her were next to leave to the ballroom after the prince got up.
-
He was eager to head to the ballroom, if it meant he escaped this blabbering duke. Jem stood and headed for the ballroom, choosing the best wall to retire to with another glass of wine.
-
Estada and Danielle entered the ballroom. Estada decided to mingle with the other royal court people while Danielle leaned against a wall watching the other people dance around perfectly. She saw the prince not dancing and stared at him for a moment.
