Nothing seemed right anymore, and he sank into the soft fabric of his sweatshirt. He wouldn't be able to stand the memories and nightmares, as all they did was make him more and mire vulnerable. As much as he attempted to find people to hang out with, no one ever seemed interested, and many forgot about him. His father ceased to pay him mind, and he usually did everything on his own. Most people would find a way out, a much better way, but he was feeling these things a thousand, maybe a million times stronger than the others.
-
Jack soon came to the tree and finds a boy close to his age. "Are you alright?" Jack asks. Jack then see's the knife and then starts to think the boy is trying to commit suicide.
-
Luke gasped a slight bit, frightened by the sudden appearance of the other male. "G-go away," h stuttered, his voice cracking at the end due to him being in his hysterical state. He had hoped that no one would find him, that he could die in peace, and go wherever he was meant to go. He put a hand out in front of himself, as if to push the other away, even if he wasn't exactly touching him.
-
Jack took a slight step back then said "Killing yourself won't solve anything, ya know." Jack stared at the boy.
-
"Who said anything about committing suicide, huh?" he barked a bit, turning his head away so that he wouldn't have to look at him. He wouldn't care in the end, after all. No one would. This was something that he felt he needed to go through with. He grasped the blade tighter, afraid he may have to do the act when it was least expected. He hadn't wanted to be saved, yet here there was someone trying to do exactly that. If he had wanted to be saved, the chances of someone helping him would have been slim.
-
Jack walked towards the boy and bent down then lowered the knife, and said "You don't need to do this." Jack has too gone through a time where he felt like no one cared for him. He still felt that way. His mother and father never contacted him, and he lived on his own with no one.
-
He tensed somewhat, remaining in the same position. As much as he wanted to return the knife to where it had been, his body wasn't allowing him to. "I don't see any reason to not do it." He bit down on his lip, his brain rushing with thoughts at what seemed to be one hundred miles per hour. He trembled, as well, but not too much.
-
"There is always a reason for everything." Jack spoke calmly.
-
He allowed him to look at the other, attempting to calm himself down, "Why do you even care? I don't even know you." He cast his eyes to the ground, feeling a tiny bit guilty for his attitude. As uncomfortable as he was with their closeness, he did not complain, fearing he would add to the situation.
-
"Just because i don't know you does not mean i should just walk away. I too have felt like this before and i never had anyone to help me get through it. So... me seeing you like this makes me want to give you the help and understanding that i never got." Jack said in a calming tone.
-
Luke gave a sympathetic frown, apologizing quietly. He never meant to say anything that may have hurt his feelings, so hopefully, he didn't. He took a glance at his knife, and then another one to the boy. "I know what you mean." He finally put his hand that had been extended, down.
-
Jack watched as the boy put his hand down. "But, it is your choice. I just wan't you to know i am here for you. And that i care."
-
He had to think for a matter of a few moments. All he really wanted was for someone to care, but now that someone was actually doing so, he wasn't exactly sure. Maybe if he stayed alive, he would be capable of befriending the boy. Suddenly, he put the knife out towards the boy, not in a threatening movement. He held it carefully, making a gesture for the person to take it.
-
Jack smiled know he talked the boy out of killing himself. He then took the knife from the boy as he handed it to him.
-
He gave a small, faltering smile, not exactly glad, but okay enough. He had a conviction that the guy would probably never talk to him after this, but he decided to give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being. If it didn't happen, it would just be another upset and then he'd be alone again. Nothing that hadn't happened before.
