Raphael entered the room then turned to the guards. "Anything to keep us awake."

The guard looked around nervously before whispering "ok I have something I snuck from the mayor,take it the mayor does not need them he is a selfish pig that has lied to us all don't trust him and please don't tell him i gave you it he'll punish me" he quickly shoves a bottle of some sort of liquid into Raphael's hand before saying "see you guys bright and early"
Maddie watched the guard leave once he left she asked "do you think the mayors hiding something? He didn't seem interested in even helping his own town" her eyes darted around the room before looking at Raphael -
Raphael silently took the bottle and watched them leave. Finally, he looked at Maddie, her eyes scouring the room. Raphael got close to Maddie and showed her the bottle the guard gave him. "I think he is. Look at this stuff that guard gave me- it's supposed to keep us awake. According to the guard, that b------ of a mayor is a quote and quote 'selfish pig'. I bet that a--hole is hoarding this s---. Even so, we have to take small sips, ok? So we don't run out."

"Yeah that sounds like a good idea but what are we going to do while we wait since we're locked up in here" she said with a sigh maddie stayed silent for a few minutes until she suddenly piped up "hey I don't know you very well,tell me about yourself?" She eagerly looked at Raphael while she sat down crossing her legs

Raphael scoffed. "I don't talk about my past, if that's what your gettin' at."
(No, you don't. Relax.) -
Maddie rolled her eyes "no,like what you like and your age stuff like that,if you don't want to talk about your past I'm not going to force you too"

"I'm seventeen and I like painting," was his short reply. "What about you?"

She smiled "I'm also seventeen I enjoy swimming and reading when I can get my hands on a book that is" maddie looked up at him hoping he didn't mind her interests

"Swimming is a good exercise." Raphael slowly began to open up and initiate conversation, not wanting to die alone and friendless. "What do you do best in swimming?"

"Oh just plain ol freestyle nothing special" Maddie said with a shy smile feeling happy to be talking to somebody again "I..I don't mean to sound rude but you don't seem like the type to paint so I'm curious what do you paint?" Maddie backed away a bit worried that Raphael was going to lose his temper

"....Landscapes, I like painting landscapes...and skies...with watercolor." Raphael's expression began to soften slightly, as did his voice.

Maddie sat there and smiled for awhile till she realised how quiet it had gotten "that sounds nice,you ought to show me if we get back"
The two guards walked in "oy!,we have a note from the mayor he wants you guys to visit him,something about dressing up come up as soon as your ready" they stood by the door waiting for the two of them to get up -
Raphael groaned quietly and dragged himself up, letting out a yawn and stretching his arms as he did so. He then walked over to the guards.

Maddie followed after Raphael
The guards nodded towards them "apparently he doesn't want a bunch of kids that don't look nice to go up for the presentation tomorrow" guard one said in a mumble leading them into a room "mayor will be here shortly" -
Raphael blushed slightly in embarrassment, glancing at the leather he wore. It was true that he did not look like someone anyone would like to see at a presentation, with his biker-type style that he was clad in. He remembered how his mother would always comment on this and attempt to dress him "properly". Raphael released a guilty sigh.
