Fall contemplated for a moment all of the different ways he could approach the situation. There was a burning feeling in the back of his mind that there may have been something he was missing, something he needed to recognize. Something important. He blinked, glared at the ground, and stood up slowly. Cautiously, he peeked half of his head out from behind the tree, staring incredulously at the guy.
"Fine then. Here I am." he called, careful to remain mostly hidden. -
"Thank god!" Ginji said, sighing in exaggerated relief. "I was beginning to think I was going crazy." He smirked, tilting his head in a very cat like fashion, looking over at his stalker.
"Might I ask why you were hiding?" -
Fall blinked, glancing the guy over, measuring him up.
What is it? Dammit! I know this!
He nodded slowly, mulling it over in his mind.
"I'm awful shy, y'see. I get scared about talking to new people, ya know?" He swallowed and smiled sweetly. "I'm sorry if I scared you." -
Ginji stared at him for a little longer than needed, then nodded slowly.
"I see. Well, you should be more careful. Plenty of other of people might of attacked you instead of ignoring you like I did." He stated. -
He chuckled airily, keeping it quiet and restrained to keep up appearances. He shook his head to clear his bangs from his line of vision.
"I'm sure you're right. You're right, my bad. I didn't think this through at all."
He paused, cocking his head.
"But I'd kind of like to know how you knew I was following you. I was quiet, wasn't I?" -
If Ginji were actually a cat, his ear would be twitching. This person was suspicious to say the least, but he'd keep polite, just as his mother had taught him.
"To most, maybe. But I'm a bit more perceptive than most." -
Fall leaned out a little more, holding himself back by the trunk of the tree as he tried to get a better look at the boy.
"No, you don't understand. I was real quiet, I know. I know! I worked on that a long time. I'm like a f---in' ninja. How did you know I was there?" he persisted, constrained annoyance wiped clean from his face but clipping his speaking tone dramatically. -
Ginji hesitated a moment, then shrugged mentally. It wasn't that big a deal.
"Cat senses." He replied, waiting for the other's reaction. -
He paused again, blinked, and nodded slowly.
"Cat senses." he repeated. "Naturally."
He took a step and then two out from behind the tree, placing himself in a position where he had full sight on the guy, and smiled.
"Which senses would those be? Did you see me? Smell me, taste me? Sixth sense? You all psychic bats--- crazy?" -
Ginji raised an eyebrow. So he was going to react that way. He much preferred the ones who ran away yelling witch.
"Mhm. Crazy. Yeah, that's it." He agreed, not wanting to argue. It wasn't in his nature, and besides, he wanted to get to town. -
Fall grinned hugely, eyes lighting up with excitement.
"Are you a human?"
Wow. Even he had to admit that was too blunt. So much for smooth. Now he was just aiming for off-his-rocker. -
Ginji blinked, startled at the sudden blunt question.
"That's a bit of a rude question, don't you think?" -
"I don't think so at all." Fall countered, shrugging. He sniffed at the air again, but the wind was still blowing toward the boy. He huffed impatiently.
"So are you or aren't you?" -
"What does it matter?" Ginji asked, evading the question.
-
"Should I take your avoidance of the subject as confirmation?" he asked, spinning his finger in a little circle as if to demand that he pick up the pace. Without waiting for confirmation, he'd already begun a slow approach.
