She slowly opened her eyes as he moved away from her. Lottie yawned and looked up at him drowsily. "Good morning."
-
He grinned. "Good morning, did you sleep well or were you bored and decided to wait for me to wake up?"
-
"The... the second one." She stood up and smiled at him. "Can you cook?"
-
He shook his head yes. "Yeah I can cook, not like a professional chief but...yeah." A small blush was on his cheeks because of how she answered his question. People don't wait to talk to him, he wasn't interesting.
-
She smiled. "Lucky for me. Can you make breakfast?" she asked. "I can't cook at all, and things made with magic taste awful."
-
"Depends on what you have here, then yes I can make breakfast." He smiled back at her. "Really magic makes things taste awful? Interesting."
-
"Yeah... it's weird. I'll take you to the kitchen." She started for the stairs.
-
He followed after her quietly, every step he took, it was absolutely silent. He glanced around at the walls to see multiple paintings of...well anything you could think of really.
-
"By the way, no one else lives here," she muttered. She'd been living in the castle with servants to take care of her ever since she was a toddler.
-
He looked at her. "Really? Must be a bit lonely. Well living in a small farm house for me was a very lonely thing. Being in this place would make me feel worse because of the empty rooms."
-
She nodded. "My father is King Alabaster. I'm the youngest of his ten children. When I was born, I was kept in his palace until I was no longer dependent on my mother, his third wife. He moved a dozen or two of his servants out to this castle and I was raised here. He didn't like children very much, and even though I'm not one anymore, I've never actually met him." She shrugged. "Until about a year ago, there were still plenty of servants here."
-
"A year ago? What did they do? Up and leave you here alone? That was rude of them."
-
"It's... complicated." She shrugged. "They didn't leave by choice." She walked into the kitchen and sat at the tiny table she'd demanded to be put in it. "Anything you find is available to use."
-
He nodded and didn't want to pry anymore. He looked through the cabinets looking for something he could make.
-
She watched him with interest. It was wonderful to have someone else in her home, even if only temporary.
