She was a bit surprised but went along with it. She tucked the end of the towel under her arm.

He placed her down carefully onto her bed and started to walk out.

"Wait, Nate." She sighed. "Don't leave."

He stopped half way and turned around, looking at her. "You want me to stay?"

"If you're comfortable with it." She looked awkwardly at her fin.

He nodded and sat down in a unscratched up chair. "I don't mind."

She smiled a bit at him. "So... thank you."

He blushed lightly and looked at her. "Why are you thanking me? I just carried you and gave you something to cover up it. It's a natural thing to do."

"No, for not judging me because of, well..." She shrugged.

"Why would I judge you? You took me in when I was injured."

"The last person here did." She pulled the tail up in a way that would've been similar to her pulling up her knees.

"Then that person was an idiot." He crossed his legs in the chair.

"That person was the woman who raised me." Her yellow eyes glanced over at him, blinked, then returned their gaze to the fin.

"Then she was a fool to do so." He stood up and walked over to her bed and sat down on the edge.

She shrugged. "When I was little, I accidentally cast an irreversible spell on myself and everyone here. At the time, only a few of the many servants were actually affected. They became animals permanently, while I would go through painful, but infrequent transformations. It took a few years for everyone else to be effected. My nanny lasted the next decade, as my transformations got worse. She'd always lock me up in here when they happened, which is why everything is destroyed. When she finally transformed forever, I had my worst one, lost control, and killed her. She was a canary, I believe. I was alone here forever until you showed up. The wolves that attacked you actually were the old guards." She sighed. "Sorry, you probably didn't want my life story."
