"Liar." He said simply. "Everyone needs a companion." He shrugged and still watched her. "Just takes the right person to melt the ice."
-
"Haha, very funny. Now, if you're going to leave, leave. The wolves will get you if you leave any later." Ava started walking away.
-
Gabriel watched her and silently started to follow. "Wolves? I'm surprised they still leave here seeing as most of the prey is gone because of you."
-
"They eat idiots like you. Fortunately, the village is plentiful in morons." She didn't look back at him. "Stop following me and go home to your family or whatever."
-
"Sadly that is true. Well, not the part about me being an idiot. I'm probably one of the best educated in the town seeing as how I travel." He followed her anyway, moving quietly despite his bulk. "I don't have a family to go home too."
-
"Well I'm lucky then, aren't I? Your village would be so much better if you still had my parents around. I'm sure you have a lover or friends to return to, then."
-
"I'm sure we would be. Your parents went to a warmer place." He shrugged still in her heels but a safe distance away. "A lover? Nah. I'm young, I have time but I just want to see the world first. Friends? Another thing. I move around so much that the few I make end up dying either in battle or forgetting about me." He shrugged.
-
"Do you even know who I am?" she asked.
-
"Yes." He lied. He had some concept of the stories but didn't know the name that were playing at the tip of his tongue.
-
"Princess Ava Rockwell, supposedly murdered both of her parents at age ten before freezing her kingdom and disappearing into the forest." She smirked, and whispered, "They still want to find and kill me for that."
-
Gabriel nodded. "Huh. So that's who you are. Well Princess I'm Gabriel
-
."
(Sorry!) -
"I'm not a princess anymore... I'm just wanted," she muttered sadly.
-
"Then fix it." He said simply. "Running away solves nothing but more trouble." He started thinking about his father, whom had gone into these very woods and never came home. Probably because of her but he didn't say a thing.
-
She shook her head. "I can't." The trees opened up into a clearing, where someone had once built a cabin. She yanked at the door with no success, until she realized she'd frozen it shut. Ava ran her finger along the edges of the door, but couldn't reach the top.
