After a minute or two of relaxing, Michael knocked on her door. "Ally? Should we set up a watch?" he asked, not ready to accept the saftey of her haven.
-
Her door swung open silently and showed the open window and her occasionally passing the windows as she walked. "I'm such a sap." She was muttering and slowed down her footsteps until she stopped with her back to the window and looking at the other houses.
-
Dusk sighed restlessly and started to pace, before she couldn't stand being in the room anywhere and exited the room. She heard Michael's voice and slowly walked upstairs, waiting for Ally's response.
-
He catiously moved into the room. Michael padded quietly to the window. "Ally," he said softly. "Should we set up a watch?"
-
Ally bent down and squinted at him from her spot. "Y'all really don't trust me that much do you? This place is surrounded by a fence. All houses have been cleared out and bodies dragged out. Four children remain. All tied up. But, if you guys want to we can set up a watch." Tilts head.
-
Dusk sighed and leaned against the wall outside the door, listening. No, she didn't trust Ally. She didn't trust anyone yet. She wasn't sure if maybe a watch would be overdoing it. But it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
-
"Its not that I don't trust you," I don't, "I know you secured the area, but I just don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night with a Flood Infection form on me." He spoke sadly, that had happened with his group, why he was alone, and he didn't want it to happen again.
-
She blew the hair from her face. "Fine." Gripping the top of the window she swung her lungs in first and the rest of her followed. Shutting the window she walked past him and peered at Dusk. "You know, it's not approtite to linger. Anyway, I'll take first watch until.." She looked at the time on her watch. It was only eight. "Midnight. We each guard four hours." She raised an eyebrow. "Good for you two?"
-
Dusk shrugged. "Fine with me. I'll take over after Ally. And I wasn't lingering, I was eavesdropping. There's a difference." She looked past Ally and out the open window. The sun had finished setting, and although she normally welcomed the cover of darkness, she felt a shiver run up her spine.
-
Michael nodded, "sounds good." Before he slowly pulled back. "I just want this place to be safe." He shuddered, thinking about that last night.
-
"Then let's get started." Every night she did this, it made her feel safe. She started to go through every room and lock any doors, close the blinds, lock all the downstairs doors. "Get some sleep guys. We have a long day tomorrow." She said softly and grabbed her weapons.
-
Dusk nodded and went to her room, hands shoved deep into her pockets. She didn't think she would be falling asleep anytime soon, but it was worth a shot. She didn't have anything to change into, so she slipped her shoes off and plopped onto the bed.
-
He saw what she was doing, and moved through the opposite side of the house, securing doors and windows. When he was done, Michael found Ally. "I'm going to try to sleep," he said. "Wake me if you need me."
[God damn I love that quote] -
She nodded once and slowly and silently started to walk around the house. She checked the windows and made sure no Infected came near.
-
Dusk sighed, placing her pistols and knife in a position where she could easily grab them if she were to have to use them at short notice. Curling up into a ball, she stared blankly into the darkness. She didn't know if she could sleep; didn't know if she wanted to.
