She nodded. "I was twelve when he died. He went to a party with a few of his friends and on the way back they went over the bridge." -
You probably felt like they were trying to be nice and not hurt your feels.
"Well, you shouldn't have to worry about going off a bridge while a creature of the undead is around to help you." -
"I know, but... I can't really help it. It's just..." She sighed. -

"He went with a few of his friends and he was the driver, so... he was the one who drove off. But that wouldn't have been a problem if he'd been with someone else. Or by himself." She returned the squeeze, her thumb nervously rubbing the side of his index finger. -
"Sounds like he may have been in a rough spot if he was with a poor crowd. Something must've been eating at him. But don't you worry, darlin', I won't let you die so easily."
