She stared at him. Opened her mouth. Shut it again. "God, Jaxon," She finally managed, "I hate myself. I've murdered people and families and children who had never harmed anything." She broke off, unable to force the next words from her mouth. The words that would tell him exactly who she'd killed.
-
"Tell me." He said softly but in a demanding tone.
-
"Jaxon, that orphanage...the one you grew up in? It was destroyed by a bomb, right? No one ever found out who did it. Everyone hated the unknown person who did." Flight looked down, "Jaxon, it was me. I set off the bomb and did all of that."
(*sad, dramatic music cue* -
"Why?" He sounded strained, broken. His eyes were filled with pain and rolling emotions that made his eyes a dark luminous yellow.
(Jaxon: -le tissue-) -
"I thought...I thought that if I did it and the pack let me back in...I would belong. That's all I've ever cared about. I just want to belong and have a place in this screwed up world. I never had any family. Not really friends, either. And when I ended up with Derrick's pack, I thought I had found a place. I ignored the fact that Derrick abused me. I ignored the fact that everyone in the pack treated me like trash. And that drive made me do it. To kill people. I thought I could fit in somewhere," Flight still didn't look at him, her body as stiff as a board, "I was wrong, and I've regretted it every minute of my life since then."
-
Faces started flash through Jaxons mind then. Friends, people who had felt like family.. All of it. Conflicted emotions ran over his face. "Flight.."
-
She didn't move or speak, her head still down. Her body was the very image of defeat.
-
"Come on. Let's get back." He said quietly and turned away. His body was shaking from the rain and the emotions.
-
Flight took off his jacket and gave it back. She was already numb everywhere anyways. She didn't what to say to him. "I'm sorry" was just lame. Holding herself, she followed him.
-
He shook hi hands. "Keep it." He said simply and shifted. The wolfs shoulders were slackened but not in relaxation, more like defeat. His tail hung low.
-
She should have shifted, but she didn't. Just slipped back into his jacket silently, her bare feet wet and muddy. Slowly she started to walk again.
(This would be an awesome movie. Just saying.) -
He stayed in front of her. He didn't run, not jog, just walked in front of her.
Way better then Twilight.) -
A couple of times she opened her mouth to say something, but what? Finally she just walked along behind him, making no attempt at anything but placing one foot in front of the other.
-
Soon the retched the trees and his paw pads went silent as the wet leaves under neath hid the noise.
-
Flight finally shifted as well, welcoming the warmth of her pelt.
