He slid back towards her and let his legs dangle in the water from the sides of his board. He used his toes to hold him in place in the sand. "Want a ride?" He grinned and nudged his dog who jumped off and swam to the shore and sat by his truck waiting.
-
She looked at him. "Yeah, I guess." She tentatively climbed on behind him, arms instinctively going around his waist as the board tipped gently.
-
He chuckled quietly and paddled forward until they got in deeper water. Pulling himself up he pulled her up too. "Balance your feet and your arms." He moved her with him and then saw a wave coming. "Don't be scared just let the water go with you, feel it and be one with it."
-
She shivered as the wind whipped at her, and her hands gripped his forearms tightly. The wave washed around the board, and she was dimly aware of letting go of him and riding it, balancing lightly.
-
"Now move with it!" He said over the roar of the waves as he started to push with the water. His muscles flexed and he let himself flow with the water, a calmness swept over him and he relaxed looking purely at home for once.
-
She did, but not as smoothly as him. When the wave passed them she teetered and fell into the ocean. "Agh!" She came back up coughing up seawater and laughing.
-
He slid to a hault but was still standing as he looked down at her. "You okay?" He asked with a smile. Humor lit his eyes and his back was to the sun, the sun lit up his frame and turned his hair into a golden halo and made his eyes seem more golden.
-
She looked up at him, eyes gleaming and head tilted up. "Yeah. How'd I do?" She asked with a little grin, kicking her legs to stay afloat.
-
"Not bad for your first time out." Slips down so he was sitting and facing her. His legs spread out on the sides of her so she could hold onto his knee and float without kicking.
-
She did grab his knee, flushing slightly. "I thought I was going to fall off in the middle of the wave for a second there." She said.
-
He chuckled softly. "As long you move with the wave you will be fine. It's like my home." Rubs his chin slightly, a golden stubble was starting to grow on his cheeks and chin.
-
"A beautiful home." She remarked softly, gazing up at him.
-
He smiled faintly down at her but pain flashed deep inside his eyes. He absentmindedly gentle cupped her cheek in one hand a ran his thumb slowly up an down her cheek bond.
-
She shivered and blinked at him. "Are you alright?" She asked, her voice quiet.
