IHLAOY NewbieLucas sighed. Just what he needed, new survivors. "We list off different sectors of the city depending on the zombie migrations, with zero being HQ and six being 'there is a zombie behind you right now.' We're in five, so I expect a horde of no less than fifty zombies to turn the corner any second now and rip us to shreds." Pausing for a second, seemingly waiting for his prediction to come true, Lucas continued, "And like I said, kill me if you want. Only reason to be out here is suicide or suicide mission, so dying wasn't something I was worried about beforehand."
A smile managed to break upon his face, spreading to the corners of his cheeks. "Of course, if you'd been planning to kill me, you've certainly taken your sweet time," he pointed out, before suddenly changing to a series glare, "I'm here because I lost the draw, and because Vivian is an a--hole." Slowly and carefully, to show he wasn't trying to sneak anything past Jess, Lucas reached into his coat and pulled out a picture of a small pair of siblings, "We lost two kids recently, one of which was very, very important. Vivian was supposed to find them for us. When she didn't, we took things into our own hands. Now I'm out here, probably about to die; AGAIN I might add, looking for two kids who probably turned days ago."
"Any more questions, tough girl?" Lucas asked, putting the picture away. -
"Can...can I see that?" Ivy asked, hesitantly. What she had seen had seemed vaguely familiar, but she wasn't sure. Almost everything was seeming vaguely familiar. "I'm Ivy, by the way." She said, not bothering to add her last name, she didn't have a family any more, what was the point? He hands flexed nervously, and habit she had whenever she didn't know what to do or say.

IHLAOY NewbieStaring at Ivy for a brief second, Lucas took the picture out again. "You think you've seen them? The girl responds to the moniker 'Indigo Child, and the boy responds to Simon." he asked. With a subtle flick of the wrist, Lucas tossed the paper over to Ivy, smiling at his blatant skills. He'd be lying if he said he knew where they came from, but they always helped out in a pinch. "So, where are you girls heading, anyway? There's always a spot open at HQ if you need it. Once we get enough people we might actually be able to start things over again. What do you say?"

She only glares at Ivy. "I planned this on my own and had no intention of other coming along. And I'll have you know that I'm way older than you, heck, your the one who's actually 10 here."She said turning away from her.
"Anyways, Lucas, I walked here, intentionally alone, to get some space from the others. so why are these kids so important anyways? There're just kids." she said, a bit calmer now. Although, she was still ticked off from not being able to enjoy a midnight alone with out worries. -
IHLAOY Newbie"Are you seriously asking why two human lives are important? Have you no morals?" Lucas said.
A second later, he broke down laughing. "Ah, morals. I need to write that one down, Markus is going to lose it when he hears this one. Seriously though, Indigo is...a unique case. And I'm probably not the right person to be discussing this. Let's say that we have a lot riding on her safe return."
Stopping for a moment, Lucas lowered his voice so that anyone eavesdropping couldn't hear, "She might be the key to fixing to this whole mess we've found ourselves in." -
Ivy caught the photo. What she saw made her narrow her eyes.
"Yeah, I've seen them. I knew them, actually. Not personally, but we were aquaintances." She said, passing photo back to Lucas. "They used to be in my class, back before....before all of, well, this." She gestured around. "Do you know Simon's last name?" She asked. If this really was them, then she might be back in her hometown. She frowned. She didn't like that idea. Not at all. But she didn't like the idea of two kids she used to know being missing. -
IHLAOY Newbie"Lane. His full name was Simon Lane." Lucas said, glancing behind his shoulder. A small pile of dust was gathering in the gutter, floating like something had just knocked it out of place. Lucas pulled his eyes further up the wall of the building, before focusing back on the girls. "Besides, Simon isn't the important one here. We need Indigo. And if you two don't know where they are, and aren't going to help me find them, then I'll just be on my way."
Stopping for a moment, Lucas ran his eyes back up the wall. "I wouldn't stay here long anyway. I don't know if you have a place to hold out or not, but I'd prepare for a push today. Vivian wouldn't shut up about it," Smiling cruelly, Lucas continued, "and of course, on the day it happens, what does she do? Directly ignore her orders from Rob and pop her damn pills. Stupid b----."
"But that's neither here nor there. Are you girls with me or are you going to run home and let a real man do the work?" -
"Simon isn't the important one? What about what you just said. About 'morals'. Anyway, if I know Simon and Indigo, then you'd be heading in the wrong direction. You need to get out of city. Last time I checked, they were both from a farm, and hated the city." Ivy said. She began rocking back and forth on her toes again, and peered around.
"You? A real man? Puh-lease. Anyway, I don't run home. I might be what you classify a 'little kid' but that doesn't mean you need to stereotype. Jeesh." She said, rolling her eyes. People these days. She almost turned around and walked straight back, so she could ride the black mare back at their home. Almost. -
IHLAOY Newbie"Kid, I'm all for chivalry and s--- like that, but there is a time and place; and we've learnt that not all people are made equal. Some people are born into farming families, some people are born into scientist families, and right now, the scientist ones take priority," Lucas replied.
A hint of static exploded through the street, and Lucas reached down to his belt, pulling his radio out. It was a handy trick Vivian had figured out a while ago; to flood the other frequencies with white noise to show when she was speaking, and when people should tune in. Turning the knob on the machine a little, Lucas listened carefully as Vivian talked.
"Hey...hey Lucas, are you...are you listening right now? Listen, I'm really sorry about before, are you mad? You're mad at me, aren't you? I'm sorry, I really am, I'm sorry. But...but listen, I'm sorry, but you need to listen. Dan says lots and loads of zambies are coming...coming your way, so you need to get moving. Are you still listening to me? Do you want me to repeat it? Lucas? Lucas? Lucas? Please call the station, Lucas. Lucas?"
Sighing, Lucas turned down the radio. She'd tire herself out eventually. Looking up at the two girls, Lucas smiled. "While I would love to stay and argue with you, Vivian did say I don't have the time. So I'm going to get moving, I'm going to find Indigo, and I'm going to go back to HQ. Whether you come or not is not my concern."
And with that, Lucas strapped his gun to his back, gave a nod to Jess, and started his way down the road. -
She watched him walk a few steps. "Wait, if we find this Indigo, then what's in it for us?" Jess asks keeping her eyes on him. She knew that thing like this was probably important to him and his colleagues, so a little reward wouldn't be too bad. "And just to clarify, there's no strings attached, right?" she asks. Her fingers moves slowly up and down her arrow, ready for use. Most days when she would go out walking, as habit, she would play with her arrows this way.

IHLAOY NewbieLucas kept walking for a few more steps, before stopping. Turning around, he ran his eyes back up the wall again before focusing on Jess. "What's in it for you? Anything you want. You want food, ammo, friends; I'm sure there's a guy who could sharpen a few new arrows for you. Anything you need, we have it all back at HQ."
Glancing around, Lucas continued, "No strings attached. You help me get Indigo back to HQ, you can take anything you want. I'm sure Rob would agree. No price is too high for Indigo's safe return; with perhaps, the exception of our own lives. Life is a rather short resource. -
Ivy bounced on her toes while considering what he had said. It seemed like a pretty OK deal. "Well, if you're sure there is no strings attached, lead the way, Mr. 'Real man'." She said, making quotation marks in the air. It wasn't that she trusted him, heck, she basically just discovered he existed, but she didn't really have anything else to do. She fiddled with her sword hilt as she casually walked over. "Could you also tell me why Indigo could fix all of this?" She asked, stepping around a dead zombie-is that what you call the undead when they're lying on the ground and not moving anymore?- and looking up at him with her big, blue eyes.

IHLAOY Newbie"Classified. Rob doesn't want Dan to know we're doing this, so you'll need to take it up with him when we get back to the base. If we get back to base. Now come on." Lucas said, looking down at Ivy. That cute puppy dog look wasn't going to work on him.
Taking out his phone, Lucas paused for a moment to put in the correct code, before raising it his ear. "Viv, tell Rob I've got two more helpers to find Indigo, don't use the radio; and tell me where I'm heading."
There was a slight pause. "Just...gimme, gimme a moment," Vivian said, "Alright, alright, good fine, you want to head away from town, towards a building called, gimme a moment, 'UnatCO producations,' it's pretty big, can't miss it. Gregori saw them heading that way before they disappeared."
Lucas nodded, and motioned for the girls to follow him. Time passed quickly as he walked, careful not to make too much noise at any one time. That's how the sneaky ones got you. By sound. So you needed to remember to be quiet, and not bring a radio when going out. Lucas was, of course, ignoring that second rule, but what could go wrong?
Stopping for a second, Lucas spotted the building, and dived into a nearby house for cover. Waiting a few seconds to make sure the house was empty, he took out a pair of binoculars and scouted out UnatCO. -
