Raven sounded worried. She watched the Avengers come closer and closer to their location through the misty screen. Loki was silent for a moment. Finally, he rose from his chair and spoke. "Stay here." Raven frowned. "I will fight them." He finished. "What? No!" She immediately protested. "Let me help you." He shook his head and sighed. "Please, wait here." Raven felt her eyes involuntarily tear up. "Please don't go." He was at her side in seconds, suddenly hugging her close. She wrapped her hands around him and closed her eyes. Loki stroked her hair and sighed. "I will come back to you. I promise." She sniffed once before breaking away. "Okay." Then she said something that no one had ever said to Loki before.
