Lucy had never been more terrified. Loki was back, twirling a fresh knife between his fingers. "I have things to do, mortal, so I'll make this fast." He stepped towards her, the knife hovering above the pale skin of her stomach, which was clearly exposed through her tattered clothes. Without a word he thrust it in. She screamed. The sound of ripping flesh. The gleam of satisfaction in his emerald eyes. The dripping sensation of warm blood running over her body. It was too much. She choked out a wail, desperately holding back tears, still locked stiffly in position, unable to tend to the stinging wound. Loki's attention was suddenly diverted from his victim. "Show yourself to her. Show her who's been watching." His smile was sickening, but what really made Lucy's stomach churn was the unmistakable voice that answered.
"Of course." -
The air behind the camera wavered and bent to reveal none other than Raven Oakson. Her bright eyes were hard to read, but Lucy could detect a hint of satisfaction in them, and she was smiling, which made her want to sob. The black-haired couple watched for her reaction intently. Lucy stared into her best friend's eyes, and stormy grey-green met bright emerald green. Before today, the term "best friend" wouldn't have covered it. They'd been through so much together, they'd literally taken bullets for each other, they had an unbreakable connection. Or so she'd thought. Loki's ever-present smirk gleamed cruelly at her. "...I just have one question." Lucy said, using all her willpower to keep her voice steady. Both waited for her to ask. "...Why?" Her voice faltered that time, and her eyes stung and watered. Raven's brown furrowed, she suddenly looked very confused and upset. Their eyes met again. "Lu-" "Enough." Loki interrupted. He stepped towards Raven and placed a hand on her shoulder. Lucy was appalled to see genuine concern in the gesture. "We still have work to do. Hold it together." He tried to make it sound like an order, but he did seem worried about her. Steadying herself, Raven nodded at Loki. "I...I'm alright now." He smiled. "Good." She took his hand as they began to disappear, but she avoided looking at Lucy. The two of them vanished, but still the camera remained, it's constant blinking mocking her, clawing at her sanity. She looked away, letting a single tear slip down her face. She had lost. Raven had betrayed her. She had lost...
-
Of course she'd seen Rave betray her the first time, but she'd hoped...prayed...that it wasn't true. That it was all just a bad dream, that any minute she'd wake up to Megan snoring softly beside her and Tony there to comfort her. But it wasn't.
^^^Insert that between the two. I forgot she already knew Raven was on Loki's side.)
