Thread Topic: What would I be considered?
-
I am technically episcapalien, but I havn't bern to church in about 5 years, and I don't typically pray. And I find science much more believable than Jesus creating the Earth. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against God or Christianity at all, but a lot of the time I question it... And science is much easier to believe and make logic out of than the Christian reason for Earth being created. Does this make me a bad person from the Christianity point of view? What would I be considered in terms of religion?
-
You could be drifting like I did. Or you're one of the Christians who believes in evolution (there are a fair amount).
-
I completely agree that some things in the bible are questionable...Like if there were only two people, How the hell did they populate? Did brohers bang sisters and grandchildren do it with grandparents? 0.0 there's some unexplained parts in the bible that make you wander so I think that both science and religion are accurate...Or in other words there is a grey area...So Yeah, You're like me. You believe in god but don't belive in religion.....Adn you're spot on! Congrats!
-
I think you could be called "questioning", like when you aren't sure of your sexual orientation.
-
Trollie- what if I'm not sure if I believe in God or not? I mean, I have nothing against people who do, but me... I'm not only questioning some things in the bible, I'm questioning it all... I mean, for me, it's a bit hard to believe that there really is a Godly being up there making everything happen. I mean, if there is, how did he get there? How did he create the Earth? I mean, my brain is scientific most of the time. If God did creat the Earth, then how do you explain the rest of the Solar System, let alone the rest of the Universe?
-
oh...hhhmmm...Yeah, see god isn't a being per-say....It's really hard to explain so bare with me, It's something people believe in to have something to believe in, something peole can hope in just to have hope- I'm not sure if there TRUELY is a god... And I may never know until i die and there are many people who have died and lived again say there is a hell, god, ect. But I do believe that god is something people have to live a happy life reguardless of their bad life they have that to look up to and push themselves to do more and to live, a perpose for their heart to keep beating and live another day- Of course science isn't true either- I do believe there is a 4th demention/phantom world(s) that you go until re-birth and I also think that phantom world reflects on your past life wether or not you make the most of it, and the pain and suffering you put others through will come back to you, you will feel that pain those emotions people felt the hurt and pain, you would re-live that (a type of hell minus satan like I said there isn't a god or satan per-say that I know of)
and if your life was over all good or you were a good person you'll have more positive memories and emotions/feelings and re-live that until re-birth so that's what I believe--- There isn't a bing per-say up there...although, I highly dout a big flash of lighting or whatever created ALL of this! -
When the human brain registers that it is dying, it releases a chemical drug called DMT. This isn't a defense mechanism. It isn't a reaction to try and save you. The brain releases DMT to make you dream. It is a way for you to at least die happy. When people say that they have premonitions of heaven or hell, it's the DMT speaking. As the brain shuts down and you go into this dream state, your brain scans itself. Your dream is literally a reflection of your life. If you regret a lot of things and are religious, it will show you hell. If you're proud of your life and religious, it will show you heaven. This isn't supernatural. It's cosmic alright. but not supernatural. On a less scientific note on the same subject. I have drowned before. My lungs filled with water, and I passed out. I was legally dead. But I am not religious. Do you know what I dreamed about? A fucking purple dragon. That's right. No heaven or hell. A dragon. And when I woke up on the sand with everyone huddled around me, I felt high as shit. Because the DMT was still in my system. It took me hours to come back down.
You said that science isn't true because in your personal opinion there are ghosts, karma, and reincarnation... WHAT? How does your personal, unresearched opinion mean you can discredit public, researched, and repeatable data? That's no grounds for even a vague hypothesis, let alone the grounds to completely disregard scientific evidence.
Honestly, if I hadn't just got done reading Ego's threads, I would say you've been been the most ignorant person I've seen all night. -
I think its like being bi but religous orientation..
-
Bob- that's actually pretty awesome that you dreamed about a purple dragon. If you had said purple dinosaur my brain would've associated it with Barney but dragons are awesome too. Just saying. And, I didn't know that before and I was interested in it. Scientific things are interesting to me. So thank you for enlightening me on that. And wait, did you say that you would have thought that I was the most ignorant person all night?
Geek- well, that would make sense... But, it doesn't really sound right -
No Sports, that was directed to trollie.
-
Ah. Mkay. I'm not really good at telling of people are talking to me or not
-
A dragon...
...I'd probably dream about Odahviing. -
First off, Bob. You got it waaaay wrong! I didn't mean that science was wrong because of my personal beliefs! It may have seemed that way but I meant don't feed into EVERYtHING science tells you! This is because they had lied about a few topics before like global warming- The Sun goes through warming and cooling periods (You obviously know this) and it's in a cooling period and last that I remember...
Cold doesn't make hot....you're astronomicaly retarded if you think other wise. Simple as dat!
I know, i read what I said it was confusing...
Just a mis-understanding...
Meep. And I Do agree, Alter-2-ego must DIE!
I know you didn't say it but you think it XD -
Science adjusts its views with evidence.
Faith is the denial of evidence so that belief may be preserved.
I will follow science. It may not always be right. But at least they are willing to admit when they're wrong. And they better themselves for it. Theology can't say the same.
The earth has been affected by us. We actually do have an influence on our planet. And whilst "melting the ice caps" may not be totally our faults, we still have influence over it.
Cold doesn't make hot. Cold is the absence of heat. Heat is created when energy is applied. So cold + energy does equal hot.
There was nothing about your post to misunderstand. You made claims that contradicted all evidence on the subject. And then claimed you were pro-science as long as you get to pick and choose what you want to believe. That's not a misunderstanding. That's ignorance.
And another thing, I do not believe ego should die. I don't wish death on anyone. I want to see him become a better person. Learn and grow. Not die. -
I don't "Pick-and-choose" what I believe...
I just don't blindlessly (I know- urban dictioanry, not real word) accept just anything that science or anything/anyone for that matter tell me...
I know cold AND energy make hot but it can't be sooooo cold that it's hot that is what i have been fed by some media sources...
I meant dead as in die off the website if under the circumstance that he doesn't shape up- From the look of things...don't see a bright future...
I believe that humans have done little to no damage to the earth- Yes there are many things poluting the earth that humans are indeed envoled with but industries and products that can pollute the earth weren't even necessarily made until just about 200-300 years ago...that's not an exact but that is when technology and mega businesses were starting up (Car Businesses, steel mills, ect.) not even... And the planet has been around how many years?! Yes, I do think it is wrong to polute and be wasteful reguarless. But I don't feel we must go to extremes like people do! There are even natural polutants as well...
