FLgirl92 NewbieDo you think we as Christians have a responsibility to preach the word of God to others?
I ask because I'm really not sure. If someone comes to me with a personal problem, I'm likely to advise them to put their faith in God. But I don't go around telling people to convert or go to Hell, because that's not my motivation. I tell people to put their faith in God because it has helped me, and I want people to feel the joy and wisdom that God can bring. What do you guys think? -
i think that any "joy or wisdom" that people find through god is actually a synthetic version created by them self and the institution built around a common misconception. If I preach anything it's to break away from god.

I'm not a Christian but I shall state my thought...
As long as the person you are preaching is willing to listen, then I find nothing wrong with preaching the word of God, as long as you don't start saying "you will burn in hell because you are not Christian" or "only 144 000 people shall make it to heaven, I'm one of them".
If you go around throwing Christianity into people's faces then its absolutely wrong...
Thats what I think -
depends and what you say and who you are talking to.

FLgirl92 NewbieOk good answers so far.

I'm a Christian and i think we do have a responsibility to preach the Word of God to others, but it's how we do it, i remember in John it says take care of my sheep, it was for all of us to hear, Some Christians do tend to give others a bad name by saying if you don't accept Jesus yyou are going to hell, i call that judging, and it's not up to us who goes and not.

Drummajor12 NewbieI am a christian and you just even saying to keep your Faith in God is still witnessing in a way. it says in the bible that we christians are to go and spread Gods word. I believe it says that in matthew but not for sure what chapter.
-
I believe we have no right to "preach". If someone chooses to be, say, an atheist, There is no problem with that. I think "preacing" will only make our religion seem pushing and strict, when it really isn't. Truly, you should only lightly "preach" if the person asks you to give them some guidance on the subject.
-
I wouldn't call it preaching, just spread the word of God. Tell them that God was always there for you and you were always able rely on Him. I think you're right to not have your motives based on switching religions or going to Hell. Like in Soul Surfer she said God saved her and made her for this purpose, spreading his word. She didn't say you're going to hell if you don't believe!
-
And no atheist has EVER told anyone their going to hell. They call you ignorant and say it's doing more harm than good. But Sisi, you're being a hypocrite. Posting that you're right to tell others about god, but that we're wrong for telling you about reality.
-
Eh, Bob? Ellis used to tell me he was going to hell
-
He said HE was going to hell? huh. Still not telling others that they're going to hell.
-
Pretty_In_Pink Newbiei second you, flgirl92. people don't like being told what to do, but just saying what helped you could help them.
-
It makes sense that someone who doesn't believe in X"torturous afterlife" wouldn't tell someone else they're going to X"torturous afterlife".
I say X because it doesn't necessarily have to be the hell Christians speak of.
