False sense of security, mostly. People want to be sure they have something to fall back on of blame when something goes wrong. Its also a great "reason" for resentment between people. Ex:Homophobes.
Maybe a little control over the believers, creating conflits between beliefs, resulting in wars with no purpose but to prove one side "right".
Pretty stupid, in my opinion. -
commiejulie NewbieAn excuse for wars and a false sense of security.

As a faithful Christian who defies the stereotypes, it's to bring glory to God and try to help others in any way you can.
Call me stupid, I don't care. I believe whole-heartedly in what I believe. I made that choice for myself. -
Meh I just don't really care sometimes:[

How does one bring glory to God?
How would a compassionate and fair god need glory? That's egotistical on his part, which makes him conceited and prideful. And isnt pride a mortal sin? Something that an immortal god is free from? Not to mention all the loopholes and flaws about hell and the creation of life on earth. Honestly, if you're trying to fight for the christian god, you're stuck with two options. Either he isnt real or he's a hypocritical dick. -
Bumping posts to get forum normal again.

Kenziekat NewbieThe reason people have a religion is because we use what each indivdual part of our relgion we believe in to worship and honor our creator. We know that after death, we can meet Him and appriciate His work. He is the one that teaches us how to make his world a beter place.I know that's what I believe, no matter what people say. By the way, did you ever notice that most inspirational people base their strength on their belieif in God? He used them, who were willing to do anything for Him, to help all of us.
