tongue AdvancedUm, there are more options than that. I don't believe in God despite my family.
-
i believe in Jahova, or God. the God of mosses, noah, Job,
-
I'm unsure. I know that I DEFINITELY believe in a higher power, but I'm unsure about a personified God.

...I believe there is a higher power, and that is is much easier to call him 'God' instead of 'RandomPersonWhoWatchesMeAndProtectsMeAndLetsMeIntoParadiseOrSomeplaceLikeThatWhenIDie'.
Despite my family's opinions, I believe that everyone is right. I pray at night to a 'higher power', but I find the Bible, for example, rather...inaccurate.

tongue AdvancedYou mean all the Old Testament stories? Well first off, that's a borrowed book. The Old Testament is the Jewish holy book. The stories are not meant to be taken literally. They were a way of recording actual events, but there are also elements of fiction added, usually for the purpose of teaching a moral lesson, but also because it becomes a more entertaining read that way.

It's rather complex this. It's quite understandable to think if God is meant to be loving, forgiving, compassionate e.t.c. why is he punishing me, my family e.t.c.
Well, those that are faithful to God endure difficulty at times, not because He hates them but because He is testing their faith. He's wondering whether His people will stay faithful to him, depend on him and believe in him in times of great struggle.
Other times, He does punish His people. Not because he hates them, but instead He's correcting them if they've made a mistake. Often referred to as "the rode of correction." He wants to teach his people a lesson for the better.
And also He punishes them because they're doing wrong altogether. He does that and hopes that they'll see his punishment as a lesson or passageway to having a better character, attitude, or leading a better life. If they continue to ignore and lead destructive lives he'll punish them. He's merciful and waits - waits to see if they'll turn over a new leaf - but eventually He'll punish them. One described it once as brick falling from the sky, it hasn't landed yet, but it will eventually.
It's understandable to think all of those things and ask all of those questions. And that's just a synopsis, but I think it covers a few important points. -
Darn it!
