Slim has a point, humans tend to relax when they believe some-thing is going to ease them from their discomfort what-ever it may be before the point so hey.
Also, maybe it was because the Devil slapped you so hard when you said that you actually woke up. -
I agree with Wendee... I am a Christian and firmly believe in God. That is so cool, riptide! One of my friends one summer applied to a school with her friends. She is a Christian. She had last minute changes and had to switch schools. She went to a new school, and made new friends. There was a shooting at the school that she would have gone to with her friends. Her friends were killed. God protected her and kept her safe. I have lots of other stories if you want to hear them... and here are some Scripture verses I think will help you:
Joshua 1:9- Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Proverbs 3:5-6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Deuteronomy 31:8- The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Psalm 145:17-18- The Lord is righteouss in all His ways and loving toward all He has made. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.

As I said before: you woke up because you calmed yourself down.
When someone gets sleep paralysis, they get stuck in between the stages of sleep and become aware of it. Odds are, everyone will experience it once in their life. When you sleep, your brain releases a chemical, temporally paralyzing your body, so you don't act out your dreams. When you become aware of it, you freak out because you can't move (because of the chemical your brain releases), and then you spend the next minute trying to move your body, or call out for help (which doesn't work because your voice will not work, or it will only come out as a whisper), and that makes it worse. When you relax and stop trying to fight it, giving into it, you wake up much quicker. And that's what Riptide did. When she prayed, she calmed down, which made her relax, and then she woke up. God had nothing to do with it. -
But you, DOA, cannot prove that God had nothing to do with it. Now, I am not saying that I can prove that He did. That is somewhat a matter of belief.
-
I believe that God did help Riptide
He loves us and cares for us. -
In one of my sleep paralysis attacks, I called out for my mom. After I did that, I woke up. In my last one, I realized what it was when I noticed I couldn't move, and stayed calm, and I woke up much quicker. My mom did not wake me up. The only thing that happened when I said her name was that I calmed down and woke up.
I don't think your god loves and cares for us. -
Why don't you think that?
-
Why would there be a Hell? You'd get thrown in there simply for not believing that he's real. And where is he now? If he really did love and care for all of us, this world wouldn't be so messed up. We wouldn't hate each other, or murder, or rape. And don't say "that's what Satan did to the world" because your god is suppose to be this all powerful being, so he could get rid of all of this and make the world a better place if he really did love and care for us, but he's not. So how on earth does he love and care for us?
-
You are alive, arent you? Here is the thing. We all need God, whether we believe or not. Jesus came down to this earth to live a human life and die on the cross to save us from all sin. He provided a way to heaven, and if we believe in Him and ask Him, our sins will be forgiven. He died on the cross for us and rose again because He loves us.
In the Old Testament (of the Bible) it tells us about God's covenant with Abraham ( Abrahamic Covenant) that God would bless Abraham and make him into a great nation, and his descendants would be as many as the stars in the night sky.
Later Moses, a descendent of Abraham along with the Israelites, is talking with Gid. The Israelites were sinning and disobeying Him, and God wanted to wipe the Israelites off the face of the earth. Moses reminded God of the Abrahamic Covenant and if God killed them He would have broken His promise with Abraham. So God spared their lives. That is an act of major love. -
*God not Gid.

Yeah, I'm alive because my parents had sex and I was born, and I haven't been murdered. We don't all need him, there are plenty if people doing just fine without him. Just because you die for someone doesn't mean that you love them. Besides, he was killed, he didn't sacrifice himself. I don't think he really had a choice.
But where is he now? And I'm talking about right now. That's not an act of love, that's an act of "oh crap, I can't break my deal". -
Provide proof. The bible is not proof.
-
Boyz16 Newbie@DOA: Jesus was fully God and fully man. it is hard to wrap our minds atound that. He could have saved Himself if He wanted to but He chose to die and save us from sin.
-
Boyz16 Newbie^Jesus is in heaven waiting for us to believe and trust Him.
-
How could he have saved himself? Then why do we keep sinning? Why do we get thrown into Hell if we sin? Jesus didn't save us from sin. And I don't think he was both a man and god. He might've been a real person, but there is no way that he was born from a virgin, it's impossible.
