At a 9/11 memorial service, a couple had their kid go around passing out service cards for a Baptist Church. He made sure to go to the select choir, where I was. He hands me the flyer with a giggle and I took it, not realizing what it was. He runs back to his parents and I hear the dad, "Haha! Good job, son." Like, please don't send your kids to spread your church when someone is telling a story of her struggles during and after 9/11. I wanted so badly to tell the parents that, but no, it would be disrespectful. I'm not even religious, soooo, thanks, kid. You're cute, but don't let mommy and daddy make you give out flyers.

Religion (or government depending on your views) caused 9/11 in the first place.

Whats wrong with handing out flyers?
-
Slim_t, there's nothing wrong with passing out flyers. It is, however, extremely inconsiderate to use a memorial service for your own unrelated agenda.

I disagree.
Many people find solace in religion, it is therefore not outlandish to extend invitation to a church in an environment which may be emotionally charged -
Esel Zerstorer NewbieJudging by her description this was during the service. Not afterwards, not before, but during the service. The service was being interrupted to push their agenda. They could've put flyers on cars, gone afterwards and talked to people, or just attend the service and act christian. Any of those would've been acceptable.

It doesn't sound like they interrupted service to me. Even if they did, that wasn't her point. So it doesn't matter. Although if they did interrupt, then you're correct, that is rude.

They interrupted the listening to the woman who was speaking. It doesn't matter anymore. It was September. Now it's December.
